Different types of ink have different properties and some will work better or worse depending on the type of paper you are using. Just because your regular Distress Inks perform well on the paper...

Actually, in a *pinch* I have embossed successfully using dye or Classic ink. Just ink your stamp well or with a juicy pad, stamp the image, and quickly apply the clear embossing powder and heat it....

I have not tried the craft inks, because I was told that craft (pigment) inks would not dry on a non-porous surface without heat embossing. I don't know if drying them with a heat gun or baking them...
