I know EXACTLY what you mean! I've hardly crafted lately and I think it's because I'm overwhelmed with all the stuff on my desk; time for a good spring cleaning! (I just got a Janome sewing machine and definitely have to make room)!

I have had that happen more times than I can imagine. Right now my craft room is a HUGE mess. Hubby is putting up shelves for me (YAY!). However, I had started organizing so when he got started it would easier - um, didn't happen. There is still stuff everywhere. I hope to get the shelves done by the end of the weekend so next week I start putting things away. Let's see how much stuff is misplaced, lost, hiding from me!
I work in my dinning area so I have to put everything away when I finish for the day. But the table looks like a burglar trashed the place when I am working.
Yes, I've just done a RE-organizing session last weekend. Whew! Now I can stamp and feel GOOD about about it. I was stamping in a 8" x 10" spot. Seriously! That stampin' table is 6' x 2"!!!!!
Even with my messes, I can normally find what I need - until my husband starts moving things around and doesn't put them back. Then it's major frustration (that's putting it nicely). If he'd stay out of my stuff whether it be crafting stuff or paperwork stuff, then life would be good.
That reminds me, I'm missing all 3 of my paper piercers! I REFUSE to buy another; and yeah, I'm used to having a 12" x 12" space to craft on; it would be even smaller if it wasn't for my scor-pal holding the space open!

wouldnt it be perfect if our two first fingers had blades inbuilt (to represent scossors?)

Hahaha! Love this thread... Okay, ladies, repeat after me: "Just look down." (Because whatever I'm looking for almost ALWAYS ends up being right there in front of me.) ;-)
 Yep. Like lots of life situations, sometimes the first thing to do is walk away. Just walk away.
I'm sure there will be a time when you feel up to the challenge again!!! And who knows. . . when you do go to look for it, you may find some other hidden treasure :^) .
I know what you mean, Barbara. I just straightened up my craft room this morning, looking for a 1/16" hole punch. Still can't find it.
Invisible gremlins live in my room, and they are constantly taking the paper that I JUST CUT and hiding it in their little cave, or whatever it is they live in. Once they see that I have gone crazy trying to find said piece of paper, they slip it back under the very first thing that I moved looking for it. Then, they invite all their little gremlin friends over to watch me complete lose my marbles. It is their equivalent of America's Funniest Home Videos!

My craft room has a black hole where things disappear. When scrapping my daughter's wedding album, the "groom" embellishment disappeared from my desk; I already had the "bride" on the page and after taking the room apart had to go and buy another set to complete it! My husband is still talking about this 6 years later!

Well, yesterday when I lost my scissors, I cleaned every thing off the table including every tiny paper scrap. NO scissors.
I thought I was losing my mind.
I poured a cup of coffee and went to sit down and contemplate this mystery. When I pulled out the dinning room chair the scissors was on it LOL It had fallen off the table. Saga of the vanishing scissors is solved.
well this thread certainly makes me feel much better....
I have adult ADHD, and I tend to get so upset with myself because I presume everyone is so much more organized. so you all might just be able to look for something until you find it.... whereas I will start 3 more cards, research stuff online, buy something on Amazon, and after 2 hours I still haven't found what I was originally looking for....and i haven't finished anything or found what I lost!
That reminds me, I'm missing all 3 of my paper piercers! I REFUSE to buy another; and yeah, I'm used to having a 12" x 12" space to craft on; it would be even smaller if it wasn't for my scor-pal holding the space open!
hey, if you send me a bone folder i'll send you a paper piercer, lol. i can not find that thing anywhere and i said the same thing (including the one on my scorepal i have three) I am not buying another one.
We could make a Where's Waldo widget challenge perhaps, and see if you can find the orange scissors on this scrapper's desk? Or take a picture of your busy scrapper's desk and have your children circle each item. Where is the ink pad? Where is the scallop punch? Where is the ribbon, the stamp-a-ma-jig, where is the tape runner, and so on and so on!! What would be the prize to find them? Just being the one who can find all the items is the winner!! LOL!
Paper piercer and corner rounder...yep, gone, walked off from lack of use, maybe...went somewhere else, where they would be treated better, put away, have their own spot, not asked to do things that they were not intended to do(mostly the paper piercer...that little baby did way more than any one paper piercer should have to do...think hubby pricking some gross little blister on his hand...really you couldn't go use a pin or something!)
What I like best is looking for something that I need RIGHT NOW when my fingers are all stuck up with glue. Yep, pretty soon you've got handfuls of stuff, all stuck. It's fun! Sometimes I tell my DH that I'm going to put everything (yes, everything, including the Cricut) in a garbage bag and put it out for collection so as to end this misery of always looking for something. I think he does a silent little cheer then, as he visualizes a credit card that is not curling at the edges.
Natalie, LOL!
Thanks for sharing...
And making me feel so much better...

LOL!!! Can I please save this picture to show my DH?? I'm not sure he believes me that other people manage to craft in as much of a mess as I do! Your desk looks astonishingly similar to mine.
Natalie, I think the only major difference in your room and mine, is that your table is much bigger, and my kitties would have rolled out all of your ribbon! Otherwise, it's just like walking into mine also!
My husband just asked if this was my desk! Looks like we got ourselves a competition here!
I'd win hands down! The trouble is, my dining table has been completely covered for the past two weeks.....and I'm supposed to have been tidying my craft room! The stuff was transferred to the table so I could sort both it and my craft room storage and put it back, all in the space of 3 days max. Here we are, 11 days later, and I haven't been able to craft at all in that time.
I'm in a slump, and I think it's from the clutter on my desk. All of my new SAB purchases are still waiting to be put away. But every time I sit down, I want to work on something for this challenge or that challenge. But the results have been awful. I'm usually willing to upload less-than-stellar cards to my gallery, but the ones over the past few days are so awful I don't even want to admit that I made them.
So maybe I need to go clean my desk.
