MMTPT666 Boundless Imagination
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: ArtzadoniStudio

We have stayed at The Sylvia Beach Hotel several times over the years, as it is just a couple of hours away. In honor of Susan's marvelous Teapot challenge, and Jules Verne, my DH just started the novel, "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea". Published in book form in 1870, it's now being listened to in audio book form. How's that for relating to the embossed quote? Though I wish this were a stamp, the diving bell figure was cut from a Dover book, scanned and backed with a black shadow. I used Wink of Stella and a Glaze pen for brass and glass highlights. I chose two of my favorite Mixed Media experimental papers as the backdrops and attached with round, decorative paperclips. Also MM is the glittered heart. My "sea creature" is wool roving. A few nautical looking eyelets topped off the piece. After completing, I realized that sub-conscience art therapy played a role here as well. Said DH, was injured last month (hence my MIA from SCS) & is wearing a neck brace. Like my focal point character, he cannot move his head freely and is temporarily limited in his abilities. Healing is slow going, but we are making discoveries and growing through the process of change. It felt SO GOOD to create again in Artzadoni Studio!

Welcome back Lori, we've missed your wonderful creations and this is one great comeback. Love the whole scene and that wonderful diver. You're right -- that quote is quite apt for his book being brought in the 21st century in audio and it's perfect for any Jules Verne novel. What an imagination he had. I am so sorry to hear your DH was injured but glad he is recovering. Prayers to you both. Hugs.

Oh so heartwarming and poignant, dear neighbor! I am happy you got to throw open your magnificent studio and spend some time among your ‘friends’! Does a soul good, right!

I love the perspective of your man! So bold. The roving is beautiful. Makes me want to reach out and touch that softness. The experimental papers there for textile interest. I like the coiled clips...perfect perfect tribute for the Sylvia and Jules Verne. ((((((((Hugs)))))))

I love your warped sense of artistry my friend! What you termed the sea creature, I had pegged as the 'Octo-woolipus' . . . . Love the deep sea diver - such an awesome image to promote a Jules Verne room. The embossed bubbles backed by the seaweed looking design really takes us into the depths of the ocean.

Lori, your "Octo-woolipus" (as Linda calls it ) is what got my attention right away - it is such a clever addition to your collage! Love your diver, and the round paper clips (they remind me of nautilus shells!) but I'm sorry about your DH - glad to hear he is recovering!

First of all, so glad to see you're back to crafting and to read your DH is recovering, slowly but surely, you are lucky you've stayed at this fun hotel, and we are lucky to see your artsy design with the pretty mage, sentiment and all that fabulous texture, we've missed you all.

That is so cool, Lori. Glad to see you are able to get back to your craft room again and read that things are improving. The eyelets are super, and I love your diver. And the wool roving, that looks just amazing. We recently finished re-watching "The Secret of Blue Water", a Japanese animated series based loosely on 20,000 Leagues under the Sea and featuring Captain Nemo.

Welcome back! I'm almost feeling claustrophobic just looking at your diver. Great job on this card. Hope your hubby recovers quickly.
