This is where the steampunk scrapbook layout led me. I dont really do steampunk, so my creation is more vintage. I did play around with one unusual addition, smashed bottle caps. Debra Lehigh did a video that showed how to use the Big Shot to smash bottle caps, and as soon as saw it I thought they would work great as a finding on a scrapbook page or wall art. I originally was going to use this as a scrapbook page, but I decided that I want to get a shadowbox for it and hang it up!
The background is a piece of Soft Suede textured cardstock. I poured a little Champagne Shimmer Mist on a paper towel and touched that to several places on the En Francais background stamp. Then I stamped it on the Soft Suede background piece. I repeated this several times until the entire background was covered. I smashed the bottle caps with my Big Shot, then added a 1 circle of Soft Suede cardstock inside them, the cardstock was heavily sponged with Champagne Shimmer Mist. I used a Crop-o-dile to punch a hole in the center of the bottle cap and added an Antique Brad to make a flower type embellishment. The strip of designer paper I used is from the Well Worn paper pack, and it is sponged with Soft Suede ink. The word love is stamped from the Broadsheet Alphabet set in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla, then sponged with Early Espresso and Soft Suede. The mats are sponged with Champagne Shimmer Mist. The ribbon underneath is Very Vanilla Seam Binding crumpled and rubbed with Tea Stain ink from the Distressing Essentials kit. The large flower embellishment is gold Waffle Paper. I cut three strips, one 1 wide, another ¾ and the last ½ wide and gathered them, then pierced a hole and added an Antique Brad to hold them in place. It is attached using sticky strip.
Thats about it I think! I really love how this sparkles, I hope you can see the sparkle in the photo!
