Oh - the cardstock I use is just the Whisper White CS from Stampin' Up!. I have the watercolour paper from them as well, but I haven't tried it yet.

I've used Crystal Effects, as it's an awesome adhesive, but you have to apply it sparingly, and directly to the wire piece. You don't want to use a lot, otherwise the cardstock will be shiny.
