I loved the card in Stampers Sampler June -July issue, page 55 so much I ordered the stamp and lots of ink this weekend. This is a great idea for a bookmark that doesn't look to fem. and would be great for male, female and even kids into fish. I'm trying the same idea with Elephants, and Zebras.
wow what a lovely card! thank you so much for sharing that. Amazing how many different ideas can come from a book mark!
on another note, I was in Belgium this summer with the family and freinds. Loved, Loved, Loved it. Except getting mugged in Brussels (we were expecting it to happen somewhere on the trip so it didn't come as a huge surprise and we were totally prepared with all the numbers to call) we had an excellent trip. Brugges is beautiful and so peaceful. DH and I would like to go back there without the children someday..
hi ladies this is just to funny i was in a $ store and i saw a card with a book mark on it so i went home and made one better than the one at the $ store and now i see this thread
tooo funny anyways here is my version of the card with the book mark on it
TLC #187 had detachable bookmarks a few months ago. Great ideas in that gallery. The one I really liked and have made since is the magnetic bookmark.
It's the easiest detachable bookmark I ever made. It uses the SU large and small tag punches and scraps from your card.
Punch out two of each size and punch two small tags from DP if used on the card.
Stamp the small tag.
Paste the small tag on the upper tag. Line the inside of the large tag with the smaller DP tags.
Punch a hole at the top each piece. Tie ribbon.
Here is the thing that makes this bookmark so special. Put a thin strip of magnet on the inside of each tag so that the bookmark adheres to the book page. The bookmark can never slide out of the book that way.
HI,
Since I made the bookmark card and fell in love with it I decided to try out at hosting my very first card swap and yes its a Bookmark card swap, Please come join the fun. Book Mark Card Swap Thanks Stef!
Would depend on which direction you are making the card -- if you make it 5.5" cut, as in the original instructions above, the card should be creased at 4.25" and perforated at 8.5" which would give you up to 3.5" wide to have for the bookmark, and you could cut part of that off if you prefer it to be less. This is the card in the example I think.
If you were to do a card the other direction, then you are only cutting the 12x12 at 4.25", creasing at 5.5" and perforating at 11", which means your bookmark portion is 1" which may be too narrow for a bookmark unless you want it that slim. Note you can make the card a little narrower, so you could instead crease at less than that, say 5", and perforate at 10" and then have a 2" bookmark.
Keep in mind it won't fit in a standard envelope though unless you folded the bookmark in. You will likely want ot get the bigger enveloped to use like a 6x6 size.

I've made bookmarks for the corner of the card using and piece of CS that is 2" x 4". Score at 2" and then fold the sides in to make a triangle. I then cut a piece of designer paper of stamp another piece of CS that measures 2 5/8" square. Cut that diagonally and put on the triangle to cover the edges that butt up to one another. Hope this makes sense to you.
I made a card with a detachable bookmark earlier this month. I used a tassel on my bookmark and attached it to the card with a small SU library clip. You can see the card and exactly how I attached it HERE.
See TLC187 from a couple of months ago. Detachable bookmarks and the directions to make unusual bookmarks from a 12x12 and a Fabulous gallery of samples. I've been making the two great examples there for a while. Everyone loves them and it keeps the sentiment of the card going everytime the recipient uses the bookmark.
I made a different kind of bookmark and a little pocket on my card for it to sit in. It is a magnetic bird bookmark card. Just thought I'd share it here.
I make the usual a5 size card and perforate the line where I want my bookmark to come off and then add some ribbon at the top when I have finished decorating the card and bookmark. I stamp my white card before I cut it to attach to each side.
I will attach a couple to show you
take care
ooh, that's nice to know (and see!) so you don't have to have a 12" sheet...lovely cards, btw
