If you heat set the image prior to coloring you should be good to go. I use digital images all the time and I color with all different mediums and don't have problems with smearing.

Simply rub an eraser over the entire image to remove any ink that hasn't set into the card stock. I use all sorts of coloring mediums on my digital images - even water color - with no bleeding.
