I have just ordered some sequin sets. Would these containers hold what most companies put in one package? Do you keep your sequins in the collection, or separate them by colors? Thanks!
What are the dimensions on those? I keep mine in this Darice bead box. The containers are pretty small and for the MOST part, they hold an entire bag of sequins like from pretty pink posh or neat and tangled.
One company... I think Avery Elle... didn't fit in its entirety in mine. (That's okay, they extras are set aside for later.) And like the huge doodlebug jars wouldn't fit, but the small ones in the multipack did.
If I ordered a mix of sequins in one bag, that mix just got dumped straight in a box. I am not sorting 300 sequins by hand. ;)
do your sequins ever get mixed up in that container, muscat?
An occasional one that I drop, but other than that they don't. As long as you make sure the lid is locked when you store it, you can bump it over and they still stay in their compartments.

I first saw them on a Jennifer McGuire video, which I can't put my hands on this second. But I did find this video which shows them in the first minute very clearly. (I only watched a couple of minutes.)

The 28-compartment boxes are discontinued, but I nabbed several from Dreamtime Creations a while back. If they no longer have them, there's a 14-compartment box that's easy to find.
I also put other *extremely* tiny embellishments in them. (Other embellishments live in pockets with the manufacturer info cut off of the original packaging.)

Oh, here's the Jennifer McGuire video, showing both the 14- and 28-compartment box in the first minutes of the video. I've seen the 14 on Amazon and other places.
I just stumbled upon this when looking for something else. It looks pretty nice for someone who prefers separate containers, yet they're stored together in one box.

So YOU'RE the sweet person who enabled me right into these! I have three of them and discovered something: if you tip the little boxes up on their sides instead of having them 2 layers deep like they come, you can fit extra boxes in and see them all at once, and you have a larger space in the other box to put larger embellishments (I put metal label holders in a ziplock in the extra space in mine). LOVE 'em!
I don't know if this will help but I go to the artist department at A.C. Moore or Michael's and purchase the tiny empty pots they have that are used to mix paint colors together. I'm thinking they are about $3.00 for 18 or so? The lids and pots are attached but I snip them off with a scissors right between so I can have separate lids and pots. You just snap them together to hold treasures! Also they have some other larger pots that are also snap lids. They are perfect for the tiny packs of sequins I buy AND they are totally portable. Sometimes you can find these pots in the Children's craft department - near the multiple packs of various paints for children to us. Ask around - I have probably 4 different sizes and I just love them. You can see through them to grab the color(s) you want. Great for holding extra cut-outs from tiny die cuts or beads, dew drops, poms, etc. Good luck!
Wow, you all are an inspiration and amazing. Gonna be honest here. I have a rubber made container and I dump all packages of sequins in there. It's one big happy mix up. I store my flowers and buttons the same way. Each has a container for that item but the colors and shapes are all thrown in together. Kind of like vegetable soup
I just got a package of 50 little clear plastic cups and lids to make frozen treats for my dogs and discovered that they are perfect for storing sequins. They are 2 ounces and hold a lot of sequins. They are about $3.00 here's a link to see a picture - this happens to be Wal Mart but I've seen them at Target and my local grocery store too. I use something very similar to this. It actually has some larger and some smaller containers in the box. I have two, so can mix and match the jars as to my needs.
I have had success storing sequins in pill storage boxes. I buy the larger ones for larger packages and smaller ones for small packages of them. The boxes that store pills for 4 times a day work the best for me. Each section has its own closure so there is no accidental mixing of colors. They are readily available at any store that has a pharmacy.

I use bead storage containers from Michael's. They aren't just dividers; they are little jars that are clear so you can see what's in them. Sequins are highly mobile and hard to contain and these jars are perfect. The link shows bigger jars which I have but I also have the ones with the shorter jars. Absolutely love them.

Harbor Freight is wonderful for storage items. These boxes also used to come with tall round containers and those were great for my bulk embossing powders, short round containers stacked two high, and rectangular containers stacked two high that I used for decorative brads. And they used to be 3.99, sometimes on sale for 2.99!!!
I've also bought holders to mount to the wall with 6 magnetic jars that stick to the holder- those hold flowers in my craft room:
There are also tool slots you can stick things into that you can't see in the photo.
And their magnetic tool bar? The magnet is wicked strong, I used one to mount a long fabric "teacher's" holder (a series of pouches to file things in the classroom) to the side of my Radio Shack parts cabinets, and you couldn't pull that down if you tried. I plan on mounting one vertically close to my desk, to stick scissors to, & my 6 inch metal ruler, etc.
You really ought to make at least one trip to Harbor Freight just to look around!

How many little boxes keeps changing. She says 72, there is a 78 and in the listing it says 82. lol. I counted 78. What I like about them is that you could just take out a few and take them with you if you crop or have playdates.

I use something very similar to this, but my tray holds 12 containers. They're pretty and glass-like, so you can see all your sequins at once. I use them for buttons, sequins, brads, fancy charms and fancy paper clips -- any embellishment that isn't adhesive-backed.
That Harbor Freights container looks great. And like the Pretty Pink Posh option, you could take just a few containers with you.

I've been storing my sequins in empty prescription bottles. Lol. I just tap out a bit into the lid and pick out what I want, pour it back and screw the top back on. Of course, I don't have very much variety at the moment, but it seems to work for me!

Seriously LOVE Harbor Freight. Those picks get used in my craft room ALL the time! Ditto the tweezers, and the magnetic tool bar is a really strong magnet- I have one holding up a multipocket vertical hanging file against my metal Radio Shack parts cabinet. You wouldn't believe how much weight that thing will hold up.

Thank you! Picked one up today. I have had sequins in one of the little plastic boxes that only has a tab closure... the bigger box they were in fell recently and they spilled out onto the floor... what a mess. This at least should keep them contained! AND, had HF's coupon for a free headlamp. Bonus!
Contrapat.. they were out of the magnetic bar... they are moving to a new place that opens Tuesday, so it was slim pickings at the old place. But the new place is on my way home, so will be easier to get there. The really nice clerk is also a crafter... she took me to a section of items that she explained are really handy for crafters (much like you said). Will check out that section when they get to the new place and it's better stocked. Told my cousin in WA State about the magnetic bar and her husband went right out and picked up one there for his tools. So thanks to you also!
Sue, like your idea of turning the little boxes on their side to see colors better AND add room to add more stuff in the outer box. Great tip!
