Have you tried adding water or alcohol to the paste to dilute it? That's what I'd try. Have done that with glues that got really thick. I figure it's worth a try if they're going in the trash.

Yes, I've bought reinkers for most of my ink pads and regret it. Just got rid of a bunch of Marvy matchables that were flaking apart on the pad area, and have reinkers for all of them.

I go to a senior center "class" for card making. They sell the cards (we recycle parts of used cards that people donate). People ask for a greeting inside - a lot.
