Last night I needed a white pigment ink pad for a card I was making. I was using a translucent gold glitter embossing powder, so VersaMark wouldn't have worked. I had 3 white pigment pads, and all 3 of them were dried out. I thought I had a re-inker for one of them, but I didn't. They were all old and starting to fall apart. Can anyone recommend a bright white pigment ink pad?
The one I've seen recommended the most often is Hero Arts Unicorn. I have Close to My Heart White Daisy that has been in my stash for years (I have the refill) and still like it. An older thread (that I can't find now) had a lot of people raving about the Studio G white pigment, but I don't know if you can even find it now. I'm sure that others (Gina K, for example) have great white inks, and I'm sure SCS users that own them will weigh in...
Colorbox Frost White is awesome but probably very difficult to find since the company closed. I haven't looked for the old thread mentioned above but I recall it being highly recommended.
My old pad (although not used frequently) is still quite juicy. It might be worthwhile to buy one if you find one. Although I'd shy away if it is displayed in sunlight.
Would a pale beige, or even a gray, be a reasonable substitute for your project?

Thanks, Tina! I managed to get enough ink from one of my dried-out inkpads, so I'm good for now. ;)
I have Gina K white pigment and like it. It is easy to stamp and get good coverage. I also have Ranger and it works also, but I think Gina K is a bit juicier even with the Ranger re-inker. My favorite was color box.
Yesterday, The Stamps of Life placed their white pigment in their store. It is foam based, like Color box was, so I think it would be a great replacement. And it is currently sold out, but might work for you in the future.

Wow, I had no idea that Colorbox was discontinued! Just checked, and fortunately I bought a reinker when I bought the pad, so at least I'm good for a while.
I bought the HA Unicorn based on Jennifer McGuire's recommendation. WAY too juicy...never got a crisp image from it. Figured it was a bad ink pad, so ordered again..same thing. Will never buy it again.
Thanks. I just ordered the Scrapbook.com brand white pigment ink pad. For $3.99, I thought I'd risk it. I also picked up the re-inker. I'll let you know how it works when I try it out.
Another strong "No Thank You" for Hero Arts Unicorn. In addition to being overly-wet, the stamped images are not even solidly white or crisp. Huge disappointment and waste of money. Never again.
Not actually tried it yet, but Distress Ink Picket Fence is a Pigment pad, I recall Tim saying that there wouldn't be a PF Oxide, as the DI one was the same formulation.
I use Hero Arts Unicorn white and love it but can’t find a white marker that works good. Anyone have any ideas? Some absorb the color underneath...I see crafters using them to hi light flowers etc but I can’t get then to work good.

I use a white gel pen to highlight things. I have a white marker, but it doesn't work great.

I tried the Hero Arts Unicorn, also on the recommendation of Jennifer McGuire. I never got good results with it. I finally made the (very tough) decision just to get rid of it. :( I got the Lawn Fawn Yeti ink pad and it works much better for me. It has been quite some time since I chucked the Unicorn pad, so I don't remember exactly what the problem was. Though I think it was just not giving me good coverage. I love the Yeti one, though. I haven't really tried any others, so can't compare with anything but Hero Arts. I figure, I'm happy with the Yeti, so why buy 50,000 different white ink pads??? LOL The Yeti pad is also a foam pad, and nice and juicy, without being overly wet.

I agree, it's not that great. I still have mine but use Stampin'Up! brand when I need white.
Altenew has a wonderful extra crisp Black Pigment Obsidian ink pad. I think Altenew has a white pigment ink pad. Has anyone used it? I haven't found a white ink pad that doesn't bleed or over ink to brag about yet and would like a great recommendation.

I've been told the secret to making them work well is light pressure, so the ink can flow. After I learned this I have had much better luck with the white pens.

I like the Gelly rolls pens.. both black and white are unbelievable! I use it all the time. One swipe coverage. leaves a glossy look that looks like it’s wet but it’s not. Covers everything with just one flick or dot. I use the black a lot for small things with eyes to darken nicely, then can also put a dot of white to get that perfect look on top the eye. If I do dashes around the card it looks great too. Sometimes I will have to wipe the pen across my hand to clean the paper “debris” off the pen tip. I can’t live with out them
I got the Hero Arts Unicorn as a backup for my ColorBox Frost White ( I think they're gone, and some time my re-inker will be too), and it's great.
I always buy the reinker... although I've realized after many years that I don't always use or need them for certain colors. You can also stamp in versamark- maybe not for your application, but use white embossing powder.
Yes, I've bought reinkers for most of my ink pads and regret it. Just got rid of a bunch of Marvy matchables that were flaking apart on the pad area, and have reinkers for all of them.

I just ordered Stampin up whisper white because, after a thorough web search, it popped up over n over as the clear winner.. I have other whites that are pretty slightly off whites but I also needed a very opaque and very white ink pad for Christmas cards mostly also other times I felt white white would be the best...., especially on black cardstock.
