The background was painted with distress paints. I removed the dauber and used a brush. The image was stamped and all the parts that were to be colored were painted with gesso. Pencil blends so well over gesso making this fun to color. The snowflake has wink of stella on it but the scan wasn't going to pick that up. Tiny 2mm nailheads were added for interest and edges were sponged a bit darker. Thanks for stopping by.

Coloring with pencil over Gesso sure looks wonderful, Nancy. What a beautiful image and you made it more so with your wonderful brushing and coloring. Love the mini nail heads.

Beautiful! Nail heads, really? I can't even tell there is gesso on here. I always make such a mess when I use it. I wish I could take lessons with you in person! You are always so creative! You did a wonderful job with your creation.

Oh, I love this! And I have this stamp too so will have to CASE it one day! I didn't know the technique of gesso with coloured pencil over it - it sure creates a lovely effect. I must try it.

I may have to wait for your masterpieces, but boy are they worth the wait. This is so calm and peaceful to look at. The bkg color is perfect and has such a soft glow. Your pencil coloring on the leaves is stunning. Right into my favs and pinned.
