I'd ordered a box of chocolate snowman buttons from a very expensive grocer as they were reduced. Even better, they weren't that nice so I've no urge to buy them again!
But, the buttons came in matchbox style packaging today is bigger than the Tom Holtz die I have so I wanted to create a Christmas scene in it. Luckily, the evergreen trees are on theme for April Christmas cards!
I used velvet paper for the snow, then layered up 3d foam pads and pierced the stacks of 3d foam so I could screw in the wire trunks of the trees. I managed to unwind one of the trunks and lose a lot of the greenery so that became the smaller tree.
I wasn't happy with the gap between the two layers of the snow and had some snowy effect paste that was going hard so added it to fill the space. I didn't realise how heavy and messy it would be! I added some glitter to the paste before it fully set. Not a card to be sent by itself in the post!
The teeny snowman was the last thing added, I just felt the scene needed something and it had to be very small!
The size was definitely a challenge and I wish it was a little neater but I have no more matchboxes, snowy paste or wire trees so it's just going to have to do!
The stamps on the sleeve are from Neat and Tangled and Sizzix. The pink paper is from DoCrafts.

What a wonderful way to repurpose the box! I love the glitter on the ends of the box top and throughout the scene. Your little scene inside is so very sweet. (Maybe better tasting than the buttons, from what you say.)
