I have to be honest and say that while I found his art interesting, the only piece I thought yes, I'd like that in my house was the vase with the broken part on a hinge. I did think "kintsugi", which I see is how MarilLynn went.
The rings in the pottery plate made me think of tree rings, and instead of cutting the centre out, I used the cross-stitch die. I tried laying a sheet of card with twine wrapped round it underneath, but it didn't look great so I used my less successful layered retiform piece. Going with the "broken things" concept, I used the coverplate die-cut background which I cut from too thick card (it works fine with thinner). Rather than waste it, I sponged it with assorted DOX, and laid it over a dark gel print. Stamped the sentiment on the trimmings from the gel print. Popped the tree ring up on foam, and added two butterflies cut from a book page earlier in the week.
Doodled a border round the edge and it's done.

I love this! It doesn't look like a struggle, but all of the hard pieces require more time. Those are the spaces where I grow. Thank you for embracing the process!
