So I started this morning by watching the video on watercoloring a Luna Moth by Leanne Margot. I was with her on the concept until she got to the antenna and then wondered why she put 2 caterpillars on it's head??? So off to google I went to check out images of this HUGE moth. Imagine my surprise to see they do indeed have large almost leafy looking antenna - lol
Color was a bit problematic for me as I have an apple green & a Kelly green - so Kelly it is mixed with lots of water and a glob of china white to try and get the minty color of this moth and while I did get a mint of sorts - the china white tends to make the color look chalky rather than sheer. It will have to do until I can invest in more paint colors. Once my greens with the aqua shadows were dry, I went back with more china white to add the hairy body and distinctive white outline that this moth sports in nature and the marking that rather look like eyes to me (hence my title - lol)

Linda, you did such a fabulous job on your moth! They are amazing and not a bit harmful to anything! I love your title and they do look a bit like eyes. Maybe to keep predators away? Anyway, You did a beautiful job. I agree, those antennae are very interesting! Thanks for persevering through the colors to this beautiful painting.

Like how you created the colors you wanted for the Luna moth. Very interesting when someone actually takes the time to describe the details of how they did the card. The colors are amazing along with the painting. Like the splatters too. TFS
