You know I have stories about paper mache'...always have stories. I was never very good at art in school and one time I complained to my Dad that the art teacher was always on me to create faster. My Dad was friends with that art teacher and the art teacher chose to 'spot me out' in study hall to talk to me about it. I think the only thing I ever made that was paper mache' was a balloon. Yes, a red balloon with a balloon inside the paper mache'. So creative, Jean. The second story is that my sil made paper mache' heads of my brother John and bil Dale for their 40th birthday parties, which we all attended in Michigan. The day of party, John was in the kitchen, pealing an apple, turned on the garbage disposal and a geyser of water, paper and glue went up. The sink was clogged because Judy had dumped the paper mache' water into the sink. John said 'why is there paper in the sink?' My sister and I looked at Judy and could hardly contain ourselves. Those heads became legend and they may still exist, 25 years later.

I was playing with DOx sprays and Brushos so that is what the background is. I mounted a book page on cs and diecut my new octopus die. I gave this card a 2 because it took forever to get all the little bits out of that die. Otherwise a very simple card. So impressed with the paper mache' artists, of which I will never be one.

oh boy, I bet she wishes every time the story is retold she had not dumped that water down the sink... This is so cool Jean, and nope I have never made a single thing with paper mache I think. I think we recovered something once with scraps of paper, maybe a box or something? but, not cool things you could recognize what it was supposed to be when done.

I love your paper mache stories, Jean. I remember making paper mache over a balloon. Can't remember what I was trying to create. Your card is gorgeous! Your newsprint steampunky octopus over your beautifully colored background looks fabulous. Very artistic!

What an amazing octopus! She’s quite styling with that bg. That Rumi quote is profoundly true! Love hearing your stories...

This is wonderful, Jean! I love your newsprint & that die cut is terrific. Such a fab greeting, too. Aww..I LOVED art classes. Took everyone I possibly could. My fave story about art class, was a teacher I had in High School. She gave me a low A on a project I knew was good so I asked her why. She told me yes, it was good, but she knew I was capable of better. That always stuck w/ me.

Using newspaper and spritzing on this octupus die makes it into a fabulous looking overlay for your watery Brusho/ DOX background! Love the layering, sentiment and pearls to finish!
