 | | I love paper mache and have made many things with it over the years - but nothing as beautiful as the things in our IC Pinterest site today - Paper Mache Art.
I was immediately drawn to this little girl piece: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/2955555993714058/
I just purchased this beautiful stamp from Unity and it reminded me of the lovely paper mache girl.
I knew I wanted to watercolor it but was nervous about whether I could do it well, only just starting to learn about watercoloring but today's IC made me get to it and give it a shot!
First, I put masking tape around the edges to create a clean frame. Then I watercolored the hair first, then the grasses, then her skin, then her dress - drying the paper between each color. Then I brushed over the background lightly with water and added the blue.
I dried the panel again and cautiously stamped the sentiment - that's where horror can happen with a crooked stamping, right?!
I know a better water colorer would have done more shading with the colors - but I'm happy with how I was able to do this today!
thanks for the inspiration today Stacy!! |
