I created this card for my brother & SIL to give our mom for her birthday. I got the inspiration for the design from this card I saw on Pinterest.
The globe of the gumball machine image with the gumballs is a separate stamp from the machine itself. The latter image has the globe, but no gumballs inside. So I first stamped the base, masking off the globe on that stamp when I inked it up. I used my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to help with placement. Then I stamped the globe with the gumballs to meet up with the base, again using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig. Thankfully, it lined up perfectly! Finally, I used my markers to color the machine & gumballs. I added the "5 cents" to the machine base with a fine-tip black pen. I thought afterwards I should have written "1" instead of "5," since Mama would remember penny gumballs. (Heck, even I remember penny gumballs! LOL) But, it was too late, so I just left it.
I inked another scrap of bristol with Speckled Egg, then stenciled over it with Evergreen Bough. I used a craft knife to cut along the bottom part of the gumball machine, and slipped my stenciled "tablecloth" underneath.
I added 2 strips of rainbow patterned paper on either side of my card base, and added my focal panel on top. I cut two 1/8" wide strips of black to "mat" the panel, just to help set it apart & tie in to the black stamping.
I stamped my greeting in Red Shimmer ink onto a scrap of yellow cardstock. I cut that into a banner, & glued just the one end to my card front. Finally, I threaded a teal button with purple & white baker's twine, tied the twine in a bow, & glued it to my greeting strip with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.
