My card today is for today's sketch and yesterday's teapot challenge. It is the year of the rat, according to the Chinese calendar. We were given specific ideas for creating a card on that theme.
I chose my title because of the sentiment: no matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world. ~Robin Williams. It's an IO stamp, done by Dina. If you think about it, words and ideas can produce positive or negative results, often based on opinion.
I wet my watercolor paper and ran it through with the compass ef. Wetting it helps the paper not to crack. I sprinkled Brushos on in blues and greens (year of the rat colors) and added water. Then I painted Inca Gold on the arrows of the compass. One4joy (Susan) sent an envelope of ephemera and the frame was part of that. I painted the black frame with the Inca Gold and glued it to the vellum stamped sentiment. I used metallic twines for the vertical panel on the left and added some glass tiles and a metal tag that says Good Fortune. All mounted on more vellum. Metal is associated with the rat. Also the numbers two or three as auspicious, so that's why there are three glass tiles. I don't have any rat images so you'll have to take my word for it. I've heard that rats can make good pets.

Oh this is amazing! Love the wonderful textures and fantastically rich green and gold! This is a beautiful card! I too have heard that rats make good pets. Much as I would be dismayed if they got in the house they are very social animals and good parents. :-)

Love your colours, love the use of that embossing folder with its suggestion of direction, great quote. It sounds like something from Dead Poets Society, which I keep meaning to see if I can get from the library. And all that gold, and the glass tiles - oh my!

You really worked that challenge and came up with a fab card. I like your embossing folder and especially the cording. Such a cool card and I agree about the sentiment.....could be positive or negative. Oh, and I like that frame, too.
