This is the inside view of a birthday shutter card I made for a special "Internet" friend. (You can see the front of this card at this post.) I followed this tutorial at Mixed Up Craft to create my card.
I stamped all the cats in Fadeout ink onto vellum bristol, and colored them with my colored pencils. One of my friend's cats is black, so I made sure to include a black cat. Then I die cut them with the coordinating dies, and set them aside.
I used the "Wedding Collection: Hugs & Kisses" paper for the "wallpaper" panels. For the floor, I cut white cardstock, & inked the "carpet" with Tattered Rose & the "baseboard" with Tea Dye, using a makeup blending brush. I adhered all the panels in place.
I die cut a circle in the middle piece, following the directions in the tutorial. I also cut a ring-shaped frame from white cardstock by using the same circle die & a scalloped one that was slightly larger. I glued the frame around the hole I'd die cut. I traced the die cut circle opening onto the white panel I'd cut for my inside sentiment, and stamped that inside the traced circle. Then I erased my pencil line.
I used peach cardstock for the shutter pieces. The hardest part of the whole card construction was adhering these panels. I had to get them so they came together when the card was closed, but you could still see the greeting when it opened, with the shutter panels forming a fairly even "frame." I ended up having to do quite a bit of fiddling with the left-hand one. Thankfully I had the sense not to push down on the adhesive too hard before I got everything placed correctly! I also would not recommend liquid glue for this, since once that sets up & dries, that's it! At least with double-sided tape, you can always use UnDu if it gets stuck down too much too soon. I finally prevailed, though!
After I finished the basic construction, I used liquid glue to glue the cats in place. I wanted a real "party" vibe, so I just "had" to include the dancing cats & the one with the guitar. Of course, what is a birthday without presents, so I also used the cat with the fish in her mouth. What better present could there be? Once I had glued on the cats & music notes (which stamped & die cut with the guitar-playing cat), this card was done! I really love how this card came out, & hopefully the recipient did as well.

It came out very well! Shutters still scare me. I like the walls a lot with the baseboard...the kitties are very cute.
Good tip about DS tape vs liquid for this technique.
