MIX253 You Can't Win 'Em All

Photo Details
Poster: Jennifrann

I tried. I tried so hard. First of all, I didn't have the right kind of die, so I hand cut these flowers. I figured I'd let the plastic do it's thing like Chihuly lets the glass do it's thing. I am no Chihuly. LOL. Then I couldn't get them to stick together, so I tried melting them into a blob. They came unstuck, but I managed to stick them to the paper with glue dots. And then stick some buttons for the centers. Finished with some doodles--including curly q's like Chihuly's designs. I don't know what I'm going to do with this card. Maybe my Gram will like it. I'll have to hand deliver it to her.

The way the petals curl is really awesome. I think it is incredibly cool looking and a lovely tribute to Chihuly's beautiful glassblowing. Don't be too hard on yourself, I think it is beautiful and very cheerful, Jennifer!!

I think you did a really good job of channeling Chihuly. He is known for irregular edges..his world is not symmetrical hence your hand cut flowers done in plastic to emulate glass work very well. I love the doodled curlicues ...that's a clever way to get in one of his trademark shapes. Thanks for sticking with it and playing along today

I think you are a young Chihuly. Let's face it, plastic is hard to work with. I like the card and I'm sure your Granny will too. You've got style!

I think the button centres look lovely. I have not all that many Bigz dies, but I find that using regular dies with acetate and running them through two or three times partially cuts through, at least enough to make finishing cutting by hand quite easy. I hope you'll try again, but you should definitely be happy with this first attempt!

Don't let the trials of making your card distract you from the beauty we see in your card. It is lovely, really!

It is a lovely card. NO-ONE but us will know how you struggled. But it's not in the winning, it's how you ran the race! Well done, you
