Gift Box for Greeting Cards
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Gosia Hoot

 My first shabby-chic project--fun!
This is for the "going away" / 3-D focus for Creative Crew. I used some of my favorite products that are retiring, or already on clearance: the Mixed Bunch stamp set and punch, the scalloped tulle, the polka-dotted embossing folder (a must-have!!! get it before it goes away!) and the Something Borrowed Embellishments (if you don't have any of these, the antique brads will look just as good.)
I used one 12 x 12 sheet to make the box--this one measures 4 1/2" wide by 6" tall by 1 3/8 deep; and even cut the flowers from the left-over strip. The box will fit six A2 cards (if they're not too lumpy!) with the envelopes.

Tip: I embossed two flowers, but punched out two extra. I crinkled the plain ones, and when the paper began to split, peeled the layers, making four plain flowers. I used one to give the top flower a bit of loft, and three underneath the bottom flower. Using split paper gives you pretty layers without quite as much bulk. Split paper is very fuzzy, so it's hard to get snail tape or glut dots to stick to it. I used a glue stick instead. Using a brad would be much easier. **BE SURE that the smooth side of the lowest layer of split flower is facing down, so that you can tape the flower to the box!! If you use a brad, you can hide a bit of scrap on the bottom, and use that to tape the flower on, if you prefer.

To stick the tulle on, I folded it widthwise (not in half--I made one edge stick out well past the other,) and ran snail tape along the folded edge. I stuck one end to the back of the flower, and then bunched the ribbon and stuck it on, bit by bit.

First shabby-chic project?? This is beautiful! Love the mix of lace with tulle, and the metal is perfectly vintage-style.
