Oh, it's so easy. It's just a pump kind of spray. You spray it on almost anything. Chipboard, paper, etc. It dries pretty quickly. There was a lady @ my last crop that had several bottles of it. We played w/it and it was a neat item. It's about $6.50 for a 2 oz bottle though. It would save me time instead of dragging out paints and such to decorate chipboard.
It could be sprayed over the stamped image if you would like to give it a bit of glimmer. My lss owner wasn't impressed. The owner thought that she could do the same stuff w/mm paint and their pearlesent paint. It was just easier than dragging out the paints. When sprayed on chipboard, you can layer different colors w/it and give it a varigated look. I haven't seen it on paper (didn't try it). They have a pearl clear one that can be sprayed to give it a pearl shimmer w/out a real color. I don't own reinkers and I don't have Ranger's perfect pearls. I wonder if they are putting that in a spray bottle? Sounds neat, but I can't afford reinkers right now.
No, it's not a paint, per se. It's almost a clear, glittery, shimmery spray, if that makes sense. Even the ones with color will be sort of see-thru if you apply lightly. If you go very heavy, you will get a much darker color on your paper/chipboard/wood along with the shimmer.
On this Apple Tree card below - I sprayed the vanilla cardstock with Hollyberry Glimmer Mist very heavily. You can't see the shimmer too well with that particular angle, but it is there. I stamped the apple tree after the sprayed cs dried completely. Glimmered Apple Tree FS35 by hbrown at Splitcoaststampers
So let me see if I have this straight. You spray glimmer mist on the cardstock, let dry then stamp your image? Sorry I just can't seem to get my head around this one LOL Might be all the late nights recently!

On that one particular Apple Tree card, yes, that is what I did. However, for the other cards, I did all my stamping first, made sure it was all dry, and then sprayed my Glimmer Mist on top of the stamping.
It's all a matter of preference. It's kind of cool that you can go either way with that product.
I think Holly's examples are beautiful, but I have tried several colors of mist and it doesn't appeal to me. I spray from a distance but I still get splotches on my card. Can't quite get it to look right. I would try the hairspray with dazzling diamonds first, as suggested.

Ditto..I too bought a bottle of this stuff and i don't care for how it comes out! Blotchy and it doesn't matter if I'm doing it closer or far from the card i still get the big droplets on the cardstock and it looks terrible! I bought the mini misters to see if that helps.. I haven't tried it yet!!
Yeah, I tried the sugar cookie one yesterday and I did all the things I was supposed to do and then some, and it was a mess... blobs, uneven coverage, etc... and all over me!

Okay..I have the Glimmer Mist: Snowflakes looks the best on white and dark colors
So, I tried my experiment and poured some into a MINI Mister and sprayed on the white cs and elegant eggplant c/s and OMG..It looks GORGEOUS!!!!
The mini mister sprays w/o big blobs on the papers I sprayed about 5 inches from the c/s and started at top of card and moved down in ONE stroke and sprayed
Here's the pics:
The first one is on White c/s; the first pass I had the mister TOO close that's on the bottomhalf of the c/s the top part of the white c/s is further away about 5" and one stroke from top to bottom
The darker c/s (2nd pic) is 5" away and one pass through from top to bottom HTH

When I have used it, I spray it on the paper, then I blot it with a paper towel to take up the excess and even it out. Then I put it under a book with a paper towel on it until it dries.
When I was using my paper towel, I noticed I also got a cool effect by laying the paper towel on it flat and applying a little pressure to absorb the excess...it left the imprint of the paper towel design on the paper. Kinda cool...:p

Thank you so much for the information. Now where can I get a mini mister just in case I end up purchasing the glimmer mist? Thanks again

I love Glimmer Mist and have several bottles of it. I usually spray it and tehn use my brayer to get a nice even coat.
Other times I just spray it. Sometimes it leaves bigger drops though so I put some shaken GM into one of the little Fine Mist sprayers that you buy at Michaels , 3 in a package. Then it gets a nice even spray.
the trick to not getting blobs is holding the piece up and spraying, keeping the bottle straight up. I use a box w/a piece of removable poster tape in the bottom to hold my card piece. Then when I hold the box up to spray, the piece stays. You get a fine mist then. Have you noticed that when you use spray cleaners around the house, that if the bottle gets close to horizontal it starts dripping? same thing w/the glimmer mists...they work the best, for me, if the bottle is always vertical, straight up... HTH! I love the glimmer mists.
If your ink is water based you need to spray after you stamp, so your ink doesn't run. If you're stamping w/waterproof ink, you can spray after you stamp....
I like using a craft sheet when using my GM. I spray the GM on the item and then "sop" up the extra that has puddled up on the craft sheet. The item then will get really saturated with the ink and mica glitter.
One of my favorite items to spray it on are white paper flowers. I can get custom color flowers this way that have that wonderful glimmery sheen.
I have a tutorial on my website on how to paint with GM. Just go to www.TheStampingStudio.com and on the right hand side at the header you will see a link for "Upcoming Online Classes" it will be in there. (It is the moving link)

I like to spray my GM up in the air, and then it floats down on the paper/cardstock. Then I let it dry before using the paper, because it does tend to distort the paper when it is wet, but it dries back to its original shape, and the warping is gone. (usually) If you spray a really heavy layer, it may not totally dry in its original shape, but gives the paper a handmade look, which is not unpleasant. Experimemtation is useful before relying on a new technique to work right away on a very important project.

I love GM, and use it on about 50% of my cards. Two things:
1. I have made my own by mixing one jar of Radiant Pearls with four ounces of Future Floor Polish or hairspray. It looks beautiful, but I don't know if it is safe for scrapbooks.
2. Those stampers who don't like it just may not like the more artsy, less controlled shabby chic look. If you only like the clean, fresh SU! preppy style of stamping, it may be out of your comfort zone. Take a look at my gallery and blog. If you like my stuff, you will like GM, if my stuff is too busy, or just TOO much for you, you probably won't like it!
First off, there's a lot of good info in this thread. I bought one bottle, and now own about 7 so yes, I like it I generally use it to add an overall shimmer AFTER I've stamped everything. On this card, I layered on a couple different colors and the result reminds me of a fresco (I promise the colors are much softer in person!) For this piece, I masked off "star beams" to create shimmering rays. And on this card I spritzed the chipboard after applying ink. I really like the effect - much softer than glitter, but definitely eye catching. Tattered Angels have also come out with some other items (chipboard and "screens") to use in conjunction with the mists - I do have the screens and have played around with them a bit, but don't have any finished pieces to share. They also work nicely with Heidi Swapp's masks (think stencils made for paper crafting).
Vicki Chrisman is on their design team, and her blog has some absolutely stunning examples! (WARNING: Her blog plays music, so you might want to turn your speakers off first if you're at work! ) Check out her hat box, info on the screens, and chipboard examples. I loooooove her style!!
Okay... I am definately sold on Glimmer Mist....why am I NOT surprised...I am such a sucker for any type of shimmer!
Now the question is .........2 oz. bottles or 4 oz.?????
For the clear colors I can see going for the bigger size probably!
What do you all have and how have they lasted?????
Splitcoast should most definately get some sort of kickback from these companies!!!!
Thanks for all of the info!
Amie

I like to collect lots of colors so I have been buying the 2 ounce which lasts a good long time. I think I only ran out of one color so far which was the "gingerbread". I used it on my Christmas cards on brown cardstock and then ran it through an embossing folder on my Cuttlebug... very shimmery!
Tattered Angels which makes Glimmer Mists comes out with limited edition colors every season. They are only available for a limited time, so those colors you should definatly buy them while you can.
Like I said I liked the gingerbread color which was a limited edition, but realized that the Vanilla Breeze is pretty close, so I am glad about that!
When I bought mine it came with a little flyer that taught how to use it. Although it's not perfect (blotches) I still like it. One thing I found out the hard way is not to use over computer generated clip art. The results will be a runny mess. You can use it on any design paper though.
I have to say (again... sorry if you've heard me before!) that the Glitz Spritz from Lindy's Stamp Gang is practically the same thing - only the spray nozzle is better & it's cheaper. GM runs about $6.60 per bottle, GS is $3.95. GS comes dry in the sprayer bottle, you add water according to the directions & voila! Now I won't say that the sprayer is perfect (Mini Misters are the best!) but these bottles seemed to make a lot less splotches, plus you can always run a brayer over it to even it out. I saw both companies at the same show last year, my wallet Really wishes I had seen LSG first.

Has anyone used the new glimmer chips by tattered angels? I know they are supposed to be used with glimmer mists. And if you have used them do you have a sample of what you did with them..
Thanks
Debbie
This sounds pretty good to me, can U give me a recipe, including colours - I need specifics as I'm a bit of a clutz! Thanks
Check Tim's blog at http://www.timholtz.typepad.com/
I know he talked about that during the 12 tags of christmas, but I don't remember which day. They're listed a little ways down on the left.
I just made this for my great-niece, Paige. I used some letters I bought at a dollar store, coloured them with markers, THEN used glimmer mists on the letters.
The book was quite easy to make, and I have started a second one for Paige's cousin Taylor. It will be similar but not the same.
Sorry, I am new at this, and I don't quite know how to transfer the picture from my computer to this site.

How do you use the Dazzling diamonds with hair spray? Do you use regular spray or the liquid kind? I am very confused by all this. Thanks for any help.
I just have to share my experiences. I have a single bottle and have hated it on paper. But I am not one to give up if the trusted SCS members say it is a good product. (yes, i am easily persuaded to try it all- hee hee). So after reading through this thread, I took out the bottle again and finally tried it on chipboard.
Oh my, I can not even believe the difference it makes on chipboard- it saturates so well and created such deep rich color and sparkle and shine!!! . I used Pink Bubblegum and it is an almost perfect match to SU Purely Pomegrate, which of course if my current favorite color.
After trying it on chipboard, i am now convinced i love it! I will definitely be picking up some more colors next time I am in the neighborhood of the LSS. I have so many chipboard shapes because i had bought a slab some time ago, 20 sheets or so. I either cover the shapes with my own DP or peel off the top layer of paper and sand it down a bit, which is what I did to use the glimmer mist.
Now, i just need to figure out how to use the glimmer mist on paper to achieve an effect that is more like my style.

Thanks once again SCS for enabling me.
Thanks for posting this - I just got my first bottle of GM and really didn't like how it looked on cardstock, but I will be trying it out on chipboard this weekend. I loves shimmer, glitter and any old type of bling really, so I want to love this
You can also get small misting sprayers at beauty supply shops. I got some at W*Mart in the travel size section of the HBA dept and they do a pretty good job as well. And at only 50 a piece you can't beat the price.
What is Glimmer Chips? I've never heard of that - is that a new thing that just came out? Chipboard?
I have sprayed on chipboard, and it is gorgeous!!!!!! I love the color and shimmer on chipboard - it just takes a while to dry completely, though.
Some of you have said that you don't like the splotchy look. Here is a card I did where I purposely sprayed Glimmer Mist to get that splotchy look on the background. It was so pretty and shimmery - don't have it anymore, gave it to my Gramma.
