I have $40 in the design shop to spend, which came with the machine. I noticed when looking at the cart, that it is dearer to have a svg file included. Why do I need an svg file?

Just bought a Silhouette Portrait 2 and was wondering if anyone knows where I can source cutting files for plain shapes??? I was thinking along the lines of layering basic squares/ rectangles/circles...

Photo paper works to an extent, but the best results are with Kromecote. I used to source it from Stamp It in Perth, but a phone call just now, has me looking for it elsewhere. I will be ringing...
