I am not sure if this is the right thread for this, but I have a question:
I am posting a lot off cards and I get 1 or 2 but at the main time no comments.
So what is wrong with my cards??? Why is nobody posting : make it like this or change this, just give me advice...I don't know...
Could somebody let me know what's wrong????
Thank you very much for reading this and helping me......
for what its worth, a lot of people look at a card and dont comment (i am guilty of this too, BAD ME! LOL)
when i started posting cards, i also began to try and comment on other's galleries.... because i know i felt like everyone must not like my cards and was just too polite to say so LOL
i think its just luck of the draw... some comment, others just dont.
good luck hun
i just went and looked in your gallery, some of your wonderful art got 19 comments (Christmas ornaments), while other pretty things like some of the cards with the little girl, got no comments... so i guess it is just sort of a gamble
it often depends on what time you upload them too...first thing in the morning there are more people looking then later in the afternoon. I notice I get more comments on my cards when they are posted earlier rather than later. But I too have to agree that you don't get nearly the # of comments as you do views. Some people get a lot of comments when they participate in the challenges. Generally I wouldn't feel that bad. Take a look at my gallery...I am not too concerned about whether or not I get comments and yet I have success with publications, blogging, design work etc. Btw, you're gallery is great!

I agree with Alli! I think that the general gallery doesn't get nearly as many views as the challenge cards do...just commenting on challenge cards can be a full-time job! ;) As the community grows and there are more uploads, there are lots of fabulous cards in the general gallery that just aren't noticed because there is so much to see and so little time! It is hard not to get discouraged...just let your heart be your guide! If you love it, that's all that matters!
Franca, I just took a quick peek at your gallery. trust me, all your cards are beautiful! I know it can be frustrating not getting comments, but when you think that well over 1,000 cards are uploaded every single day...well, it's amazing to contemplate viewing, and commenting, on all of them. I did notice too that several have been "favorited", which to me is better than a comment, lol. It means your card was bookmarked to be able to be revisited.
The cards in my gallery NEVER gets many comments either so I just think that's how it is. Alot of people are busy and just don't leave comments (I am just as guilty)
Many people, myself included, will not leave comments when the submitter doesn't fill in the recipe. I feel if the submitter can't/won't take the time to put in the basic information then why should I take the time to leave a comment. Maybe I'm wrong but that's the way it is.

I also notice people get a lot of comments who participate in the challenges. Lots and lots of cards have zero comments. Many only have one or two. I feel like when I'm surfing the gallery the majority do NOT have comments. I've read many times people used to comment much more often. You are not doing anything wrong-keep up with your great card making.

I haven't participated in the challenges, so I can't comment on that. For me, the cards that get the most views and comments are when I've posted in the SU gallery. Cards I've made with other sets are rarely viewed beyond the day I post them. I'll have to try the challenges.
I have been trying to comment more myself .. and I mostly do it before I go to work in the morning ...my gallery also lacks comments and sometimes it just makes you feel like you are not cutting it... (no pun intended) Then I have to sit back and think... that I really do this for the love of it and those that receive my cards love them ...one of my friends even framed a card I gave her.... That was comment enough for me
Although with me not getting very many comments ... it makes me try to pick up the pace a little and better myself and try and be a little more creative ... (secretly longing for a couple more comments ) I guess sometimes we just need that little pump up on our egos ...eh
Have an awesome day ......
I agree with all the comments here so far - there are so many cards in the gallery, it's impossible to comment on all of them!!! However, if you are unhappy with the way some of your cards are turning out, I started a constructive criticism thread here on the forum - if you post the link, others can give you positive feedback on how to make your card better. Just a thought.....

I think it's already been said - so many cards and not enough time.
And yes, the challenge cards do get more comments, but if you don't feel like joining in on the challenges, there are Comment *challenge* threads like this one, where you visit the person before you on the thread, or leave 5 comments on different cards and then post on the threads. When I first started uploading here, I found that a good way to get to see other peoples work and get a few comments in return Forums at Splitcoaststampers Forums at Splitcoaststampers
(I do like it when people post some information about materials used, but I'm not going to NOT comment on a card just because there's no info, if I was going to comment in the first place.)
I haven't participated in the challenges, so I can't comment on that. For me, the cards that get the most views and comments are when I've posted in the SU gallery. Cards I've made with other sets are rarely viewed beyond the day I post them. I'll have to try the challenges.
I have found the same. "SUO" for a keyword (make sure it IS actually SUO) will bring far more views and comments. Just having your card in the proper SU gallery is almost as good.
I do participate in challenges and find that challenge cards get more views and comments than non-challenge cards, that it is better to post earlier in the challenge week than later, and earlier in the day than later.
I love comments, but realize that SCS has become so large and each person's time is limited. Comments end up being spread thinly. I appreciate views and favorites too!
What I have noticed is funny is that if my comments are higher...the favorites are lower...and vice versa. ;)
Trust me...........I just took a quick peak in your gallery, and you make beautiful cards! I tend to agree with comments that have been made about luck of the draw, about who comments and when, and people not taking time to leave a comment, so please don't take it to heart. You have created many beauties!
And, to also suggest that you put in the description box a direct request for constructive criticism, if that is what you would really like, so folks know you welcome it.

I feel your pain. I used to get a lot more comments than I do now.
But I've come to realize that my intended audience is not SCS as much as I (heart) SCS, when I make a card it is for a person I love and if they love the card, then it was successful. Or I make a creation for my own personal therapy.
So, I do love comments, but they are taking a backseat now to my real motivations for stamping. hth
i feel the same way. i dont think my work is that bad and i even posted up a blog candy which made a few more in but i did say i would give the candy after getting 50 comments, lol
so if anyone fancy looking in a norwegian blog please do
I think my link is here but if not its here :
Your cards are beautiful and creative! I used to wonder about my own cards too. I'd upload a card and then I'd hurry home from the store and look to see if I'd have a comment... and I'd be disappointed if I didn't. But now I've come to realize that many lovely cards don't get comments. It doesn't make them any less special. One little tip I've learned is that if you comment on other people's cards they tend to appreciate it and will leave comments for you. You can also join a comment thread to get some extra TLC!
Won't repeat what was already said but will add that I am very quilty about not leaving comments all the time. I don't upload cards, haven't taken that 'leap' yet, but I so enjoy looking at all the cards and ideas that everyone shares. I think that comments have seemed to drop a lot since I started with SCS, and it's nothing against you or anyone else. I did check out your blog - you have some beautiful creations, I wish I could produce cards like that!
I just started posting cards here on SCS and am mainly participating in the challenges. I am loving it! I used to have to start with a CASE and change it up, but now the challenges are helping me come up with ideas pretty much all my own ;)
Anyway, it's thrilling to get comments, but what I'm learning from participating in the challenges is even more valuable to me!

I agree 100%. I pulled up several cards a couple of nights ago and there was no recipe so I left no comments. They were pretty and the same person had numerous posts. I quit looking when I saw the second card because I then realized there would be no recipe on any of them.
I find that my challenge cards always get more comments then ones that I make that aren't for challenges. I wouldn't worry too much about it. As a pp said, if your cards are favorited, that's as good if not better then comments.
Also I noticed that Cook22 posted a link to the Gallery Comment Contest. Please use the link in my signature, as the one posted is a VERY old one and it gets a new thread every month. I'm happy to be hosting it this month. But thank you for posting it cook

I have started to do that lately. I think that it is rude to expect someone to go to someone's log in order to see how the card was created. They basically are saying that that their time is more important that the viewer's is.

Wow! Really? I fill in the basic info (stamp set, ink, accessories, etc), but the specifics I put in my blog and then post a link to my blog. I think it's rude to expect someone to take the time and write out the information twice. If they post it on their blog and then add a link to their blog, I think that's just fine. I really don't see how you think people are saying that the their time is more important then the viewer...are you telling me that the veiwers time is more important then the creators??
And I will still comment on people's cards even if they don't have the info. Sure, it's nice to know what they used, but sometimes people may not even know WHAT they used. I have stamp sets and ink that I have no idea what to call them because they came second hand or something. I try to name them, but that doesn't mean you're going to know what I'm talking about.
I agree with the general sentiment. Your cards are wonderful, many people do look at them but most will not take time to write out a comment. Many people look at hundreds of cards or are in a hurry looking for something specific and don't leave comments for people. Other times there are hundreds of things uploaded so the odds of people seeing yours are smaller so it's hard to tell why people "seem" to like one thing and not others....
You do beautiful work though so don't be discouraged! Just keep sharing

I apologize if I came on too strong. From what you have said in your first full sentence, you cover the essentials (stamp set, paper ink, etc.) Nobody expects you to write write out the instructions.
I do look in the Gallery everyday but I do not leave comments unless I have time to.
I also am one that will not look at a blog for info on the card because last fall I did click on a blog link from SCS and I got a very nasty virus!! I will NEVER do that again.
If there is no info I do not leave comments. I know some flame me for this but oh well.

I'm sorry, I'm grumpy today, had a really bad night with my son waking all the time. I appreciate you clarifying what you meant.
I do wish people would take the time to put the basics on their card, but even if they don't, I'll still comment if I like the card enough.
One of my pictures made it to the front page of the gallery and I was chuffed as anything. I know people look at my stuff and don't leave comments, after all there are a few thousand pages to get through. Just the fact I have one or two comments actually blows me away.
Your work is good, you know its good, and it is great that we have this forum to share with everyone. People who know you will look at your work - and appreciate it, even if they don't comment.
I have a craft blog with over 50 entries in it. I rarely get comments on the blog, but people tell me in other mediums about what they think. Imagine my surprise yesterday when this really well known artist who I really admire has not only looked at my blog, but left me a comment! To me for all the comments I don't get are made up for by this one I did get. Hope that makes sense.
I don't really care if I get comment...it is the views that I love! I have one that has over 600 views and not one comment. I have had pm's asking me about it so I know they like it. A view is as good as a comment to me...you still have to enter my gallery to see it, kwim?
I just took a peek at your gallery, and you do awesome work! Don't let a lack of comments get you down. I've noticed that if a card isn't part of one of the SCS challenges, it tends to get less comments.
I used to let low numbers of comments get me down, but not any more. I post my cards because I like them, and they might be inspiring to someone else...whether they let me know or not.
I would love to make cards like you, but my style is more CAS, so that is what I tend to search for and comment on in the gallery. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate what you do. I love your style!
Keep up the great work!
Sorry, I am also guilty of looking and looking and looking but sometimes (most of the time) I am eating at the same time that I'm looking at the cards and am too lazy to comment. No excuses... just... pure laziness on my part. <lame apologetic grin>
Please don't be discouraged in uploading your work.
From experience, you now know not to expect a lot of comments. I liked Linda's attitude to the whole thing...Check out your views. If someone likes it, then they have gone in to have a closer look. That in itself, is a compliment to the creator.
I am not a fan of the ...check out my blog ...thing (and yes, I do have a blog...but I write up the cards going in to the gallery) It is a request that I do so, so I honour that request. I think that fair enough as the viewer is in this community to see....not the blog community....if you know what I mean.
