This is for Lisa's lovely WT challenge - Hans Christian Anderson. The Ugly Duckling was one of my favourite stories and is the inspiration for my card.
I started with a piece of masking paper the same size as the panel, then using a blade, cut out the moon shape. The negative and positive masks are both used.
The background was made by masking the moon area then dunking the cardstock into a puddle of Dylusions Ink Spray and Ironing Spray Starch.
I placed the top half of the card in a more concentrated part of the puddle and rubbed my hand over that section.
Once the base was dry, I removed the moon mask then put the background mask in place leaving the moon exposed and ready for distress ink.
Smack & Squirt technique for the moon - smack distress ink pad onto al foil then squirt on some water and scrub on the inky water.
The ducks were stamped a gazillion times thanks to MISTI and Memento Luxe ink. I finished with a bit of dot and tree stamping.
Thank you for looking.

This is quite simply a fantastic card Susie. I love reading that you created this card to represent looking for the ugly duckling; which also happens to be one of my favorite stories. I love how you create your backgrounds. This spray starch technique you use has me very intrigued. I wonder if your local store thinks you do a lot of ironing. LOL. I giggled when I read you stamped the geese a gazillion times. Ha! Your gorgeous orange moon is the perfect backdrop for these wonderful geese and complements the background so beautifully too. Hugs! ~Karen.

You are really rocking those great grey backgrounds and super-moons, Susie! What a delightful setting for your little flock of ducklings off for a "nexplore". I know I've seen the swan in the gallery already! There are two ducks in the garden I walk to with my dad...he can never remember what they are called so they are just " not hens". I'm hopeful there might be ducklings next year, there were two little chickens this year.

Another marvelous creation, Susie! I love the Ugly Duckling story, too. The background you created is gorgeous, as usual, and the moon is fantastic! The orange and gray are a striking combination. The trees, dots, and doodling are wonderful additions. Another great piece of art, my friend!
