My best childhood Christmas memory began from the time I was 13 years old. From the day I got out of school for Christmas break until the wee hours of the morning on Christmas day, I worked by my Dad's side in the flower shop. I did this until I went to college. My job was dressing the potted plants, most of which were poinsettias. I would pick the leaves and wrap the pots in foil and add a big bow. The best part was that these were the times when my creativity grew and I learned so much about design with my Dad's coaching. The flower shop in those days was a very busy place at the holiday and I enjoyed every minute. It was where I learned how to stay busy and find things to do by being observant. Thanks, Dad.
I sprinkled several shades of red brushos on Fabriano watercolor paper and spritzed with water. After it dried, I stamped the floral image twice with glorious green ink. I fussy cut the leaves, inside and outside, and then put them together with foam dots. I repeated the brushos with green hues on a new piece of paper and basically did the same thing. I stamped the sentiment in glorious green ink.

What a gorgeous poinsettia Jean! And I love your Christmas memory of working in the flower shop and I'm sure the best part was spending time with your dad.

You know how much I love the beautiful poinsettias at Christmas. Love your story as well and it explains why you were able to teach me to make florists' bows. Beautiful poinsettia, and I love the layout. The green and gold is gorgeous!
