I didn't do this card for any challenge today. I did it because I needed a card for a friend to go in a suprise and she likes this fellow so I decided to use it on her card.
I started off trying to use Both Way Blossoms but I wasn't happy with how that was working out and wanted something a little different. Well Botanical Blooms was just sitting right there on the kitchen table so I grabbed it and decided to play with it today as well.
I stamped the zebra and maked him off and then used Tombow markers to colour on the watercoloury flowers in the set. I started with two different yellows, then two different blues and then discovered that the silhouettey flower makes excellent leaves by using three different greens. I coloured, spritzed and repeatedly stamped the images until there was no more ink and then repeated.
I overstamped the silhouetted flowers with the outline stamp that goes with the watercolour image.
Next I decided that I wanted a 3-D zebra this time and cut out two different layers - it's really hard to appreciate it in the photo though but IRL it looks soooo awesome. I had the card in a stamp store today and a total stranger remarked on it which was waaaaay cool.
I popped the layers up, added some accent colours to the zebra in pale brown and chocolate brown and added the fuzzy ribbon from the dollar bin and handwrote the sentiment. Then I sponged the edges of the card base because I had smeared them a bit by accident with black ink and added the dots.
And then I did the entire card bacjground again and moved my zebra over because I misspelled Surprise as Suprise. and I wasn't covering up my lovely background with a piece of paper. I almost never redo a card but this time I did. Arghhhhhhhh!
But I'm happy with it now and also with the size. It's been a loooooong time since I made a standard sized card and I enjoyed it for a little bit of a change. It's less work because there is less BG to cover and I think it really makes the zebra stand out.
Hope you like this card and thanks for any comments!

Really awesome card! I am always partial to zebras because my granny (who has since passed) used to collect them! I am going to make a special zebra card in her honor one day and I just might case this one!

I knew I'd seen you use this fella so I perused to see all the different creative colors and ways for a comparison. I LOVE the POP of the popped up zebra. I think it looks awesome on a flat page so I bet the dimension IRL is fabulous. Your bg is such an outstanding use of that stamp set. I so admire your ability to see beyond the boundaries, Lori.

This guy is sooOOoo adorable, he looks ready to reach out off the front of the card! I love what you've done with the background and then popping this fella up to make him 3-D. The flower colors are so 'yummy' looking, makes me feel ready for spring time. LOVE this card!
