Wow! I tried uploading this card 3 times last night and today is the third time I've tried thid morning and it finally worked. Whew!
The challenge for yesterdaywas a colour challenge - to use Rose Red, Blush Blossom and Close to Cocoa.
I got mixed up and thought it was Chocolate Chip and I made my cards with those colours and then realised that I'd made a mistake when I checked the challenge list before posting so that I could get the key word right, cause I've gotten it wrong before!
Anyways... I hope it's
OK that I goofed.
I saw some Tim Holz stamp sets online and thought about all the collages that he does and thought that I would try one today.
I started by stamping the butterflies onto the main panel which was done on blush blossom in chocolate chip and then masked them off. I stamped the corners next from one of the Fancy Pants 12x12 stamp sets. I lost the packaging and can't remember which one it is. Next I stamped the floral silhouette and then the script background.
After that I started my shading. I sponged blush blossom onto the centre area of the card to about 3/4 of the way to the edge. Next I sponged rose red onto about 3/4 to the edge but blended it into the blush blossom area. Lastly I sponged chocolate chip onto the outer-most area and made it especially dark on the corners and then dragged the stamp pad along the edges of the main panel in order to make it really dark.
Then I did something I haven't ever thought of before. To make the extra dotted texture on the card I punch a series of small holes into some scrap cardstock and then sponged through it randomly all over the main panel in rose red and chocolate chip. After that I stamped the image in the lower right hand corner and stamped the sentiment onto the lower right hand corner of the main panel. I mounted the main panel onto rose red and all of it onto chocolate chip.
The idea for the punched hole template to make the random stamped holes came from the Blockhead Stamps website which I was looking at today. They were using a much larger-sized hole but I couldn't find a large hole punch so I used my 1/8 inch punch.
I'm really happy with the results of this technique and I'm please with how my card turned out. It's no Tim Holz creation but it is what I had in my mind and I think those butterflies really pop.
Thanks for a great colour challenge Emily.
Hope you all like my card and TFL!!!
