Need help with glass ornaments...

Do you "emboss" on the side we put the staz- on or the other side that we colored with the Sharpies? I am so confused and right about now it is very easy to do! :confused:

Have you tried was paper to make it more "slippery" for lack of a better term? I use that on all my tools so they cut like butter.
