Jeanne is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us a beautiful palette to work with: Seaside Spray, Garden Green and Crushed Curry. The dessert option is to add an additional color. Unless you consider neutrals another color, I think I have to pass on dessert this week!
This card is for my great-nephew. He will be graduating from UVA this year, and is about to embark on a new job. I think we can all relate to how scary this time is for young adults, and I love the sentiment on this card. I hope he takes the advice! (In case it's too tiny to read, it says, "Leap and the net will appear.")
I seem to be on a collage/grunge kick these days, but it's probably appropriate for a young man, so I'm just going with it! I started with a piece of Bristol cardstock, and embossed the image and sentiment with black ink and clear embossing powder. Then I used blending brushes to apply the inks to the cardstock. That combination of ink and paper blends so wonderfully!
Next, I used a couple of stencils and a baby wipe to remove some of the ink in a random fashion, then I randomly stamped some script and a filigree design. I distressed the edges and sponged on some Vintage Photo ink around the edges. I splattered with white gouache and outlined the sentiment with a white gel pen. Mounted on a Crushed Curry card base.
This lovely palette has so much potential! I can't wait to see what you do with it!

Beautiful mix of the challenge colors for the pretty background. Not so sure the sentiment could always be depended on, but I like it anyway. This is a very cool, unique card!

The three color gradients has a great look of iridescence and make a superb backdrop for the male tight rope and textual scene. Magnificent grunge look.

This is just outstanding, Barbara! I love every single thing about it! Your background is filled with interest and that image and sentiment are fantastic for a graduation or anyone embarking on a new path or adventure. Straight into my favorites!
