Today we are to be inspired by the artwork of Mary Nohl, who created with all manner of objects she found to recycle. Well, when I joined SCS 5 years ago, I found Steampunk and indeed one of the teapots looks to be made from rusted nuts and tiny pipes - that and Mary's vivid imagination inspired my card.
I started with a direct-to-paper technique dragging my 3 DOX colors over the watercolor paper. I then spritzed generously with water and laid a geometric stencil over the entire piece, weighted it down and set aside to dry. (Hoping for the look of rusty pipes when dry) In the meantime I stamped the facial features on scrap stock with heliotrope, then colored with prismacolor pencils, free handing the rest of the face and neck.
Next I stamped the watchworks on parchment (twice) and fussy cut various parts of the cogs, wheels and gears and die cut more cogs & gears from scrap stock. Attached the bg to my cardbase with bronze eyelets, layered on the face with mounting foam and Layered on the die cuts and watchworks. I finished the neckline with some "antique" lace (recycled from an old square dance dress) held in place by part of a SB curved border.
I computer generated my own sentiment, fussy cut and framed with a deckle edged scissors.
The inside says: "Let your Uniqueness shine!"
