Today we are to be inspired by the artwork of Mary Nohl, who created with all manner of objects she found to recycle. Well, when I joined SCS 5 years ago, I found Steampunk and indeed one of the teapots looks to be made from rusted nuts and tiny pipes - that and Mary's vivid imagination inspired my card.
I started with a direct-to-paper technique dragging my 3 DOX colors over the watercolor paper. I then spritzed generously with water and laid a geometric stencil over the entire piece, weighted it down and set aside to dry. (Hoping for the look of rusty pipes when dry) In the meantime I stamped the facial features on scrap stock with heliotrope, then colored with prismacolor pencils, free handing the rest of the face and neck.
Next I stamped the watchworks on parchment (twice) and fussy cut various parts of the cogs, wheels and gears and die cut more cogs & gears from scrap stock. Attached the bg to my cardbase with bronze eyelets, layered on the face with mounting foam and Layered on the die cuts and watchworks. I finished the neckline with some "antique" lace (recycled from an old square dance dress) held in place by part of a SB curved border.
I computer generated my own sentiment, fussy cut and framed with a deckle edged scissors.
The inside says: "Let your Uniqueness shine!"

I always love seeing what you do with that face, Linda. Great sentiment (and inside too), and so well combined with all the gears. The lace is fab recycling, and the stencilled background is amazing. Her gears look a bit like a marcel wave, is that the word? Or an aviator's helmet. I like your steampunk creation.

you could not have said it any better as imagination has no limits for sure. Great image and the gears surrounding the head are neat---great background---- sweet card
