The Dirty Dozen? Really? It started with a PM from Lydia regarding my Albums vs. Gallery, and I was certain I had done something wrong, at least wrong enough to warrant this message. We chatted about all that is SCS for about five minutes, and Lydia asked me if I would like to be a part of the Dirty Dozen! Not in my wildest dreams had I ever even entertained such a thought! Silence fell, and tears- tears of relief that I had not gone astray in the gallery, and tears of unbelief.
Growing up in the mountains of Northern California, I met my sweetheart 38 years ago. We married and moved to Clovis, Ca. where we raised our two wonderful sons. Soon my DH will retire and by next May, I will join him in the Land of Retirement as we move to Cody, Wyoming to be with our children and grandchild- who are the center of our lives! Card making has become a passion for me ever since my first SU Class some years ago. My Demo, and now "Bestie IRL" Natalie introduced me to SU, and the fire began! I had no idea about this world but was fascinated by all Natalie created- she started with a torn piece of paper, and I was done! I bought my first set, thinking although I could not make “real” cards, I could use the scriptures I bought to make stationery. Now, I literally wake up with ideas in the wee hours, and get to it before the sun comes up! I love that stamping is an outlet to share my family, my faith and sometimes my twisted sense of humor as well.
One thing I can tell you about this journey is that I am mindful of all that SCS has done for my paper crafting, and all of the beautiful and talented people in this place. After looking for some time, I joined and began commenting. It took some time before I had the courage to upload, and that is when it started. The encouragement found through others in SCS has been incredible and I am so thankful for those who share ideas, techniques and often their hearts on paper. I have often called SCS “Card College”, and have taken so much inspiration from others, and have my favorite “Professors” too. I love how this community of stampers comes together to sharpen one another, and also how my very best friends have come from this place. I have been blessed to meet many of those I came to love, and can honestly say I have never met a Stamper I did not have an instant bond with. Lydia, thank you so much for this opportunity. I hope we can kick up some dust together in this Dirt Pile! Hugs.....

Words cannot express how happy that I am for you, Pat. Not only does your talent make you a standout in this very talented community, but it is truly matched by your kindness. For a newbie just feeling her way around here, it was always a relief for someone who really knew what they were doing like you to leave a comment. I know that you being a DirtyGirl will make the whole SCS community a better place. Enjoy your time in the pile!
What a great year 2011 is turning out to be for you

I try to keep up around here, but OMG I feel so far behind! To be honest, I thought that you had already been in the dirty dozen. You are one of the best stampers/cardmakers/paper crafters of all time and your cards are all on a level that most of us just dream of (level bazillion you know). I show my non-SCS friends your gallery and the cards you send me and they all become entranced - their eyes look almost hypnotized, their jaw drops a little, and some drool starts to pool in the corner of their lips. I recognize the signs of mezmeratization (I know I spelled that word wrong and my spell check doesn't even know how to spell it so I hope you got it) because that is how I feel every time I look at your cards. Anyway, you so deserve this honor. You have been MY favorite professor of all time (and that is a great honor in itself because my Marketing professor in Grad School was one of the best teachers of all time) and you have become one of my best friends. You have been there to cheer me up during some of the worst times in my life and we have never met in person - a testament to SCS and to you.
Ok, enough with the mushy talk, congrats Pat, my stamping Mom (even though we are the same age). Now I have to go run off and see what else I am horribly behind on around here! LYMI!
