This is a Teapot Tuesday card for Patty, a dear friend of our High Priestess Teapotter, Sheri (knurse). To let Patty know she is in our thought we were asked to bring flowers, birds, butterflies or a nature scene.
When I read those precious words "nature scene" my mind went at a million miles an hour dreaming up a nature scene of a little person, wearing a floppy hat, with a butterfly net in a garden setting. I found the perfect digi stamp, did all the sizing on the computer, chose the papers AND I did this in record time of 90 minutes.
Next step was turning the printer on......it was not working. Not to worry, DH has prepared a folder for me of how to fix everything that goes wrong when he is away, you know stuff like how to reset the pilot light on the hot water, how to open the roller door of the garage when the power goes out (gosh that is a long story for another day), how to change the ink in the computer. DH did NOT leave instructions on what to do when the printer wouldn't even turn on. Not to worry, time for Plan B.
Plan B was a card I have been thinking about for a while thanks to the inspiring cards of Peggy (jasonw1), the queen of monochromatic creations. Oh my goodness how hard is it not to add colour, I had to have a little lay down after making this. I did add an insy bit of Stickles to the butterflies and a tiny bit on the birds eye (IRL it looks like he has a glass eye - not really the look I was going for).
About the card, this is a stair step (steps are in middle section). After making the step card, I ran it through the cuttlebug using a brick EF. The butterflies are stuck on acetate so they look suspended in the air. I dry embossed the butteflies and added a bit of bling. I added the tree, gate and flourishes.
As there was no fussy cutting this week you would think there were no injuries to report...but you would be wrong. When I tried to fix the printer, I unplugged it and somehow wrapped the cord around my foot, tripped, smashed my head into the edge of the desk and was somewhat dazed for half an hour. Just when you think it can't get worse, I dropped a very large butterfly punch on my foot, I expect the swelling will go down any day now. The bruise is impressive, the colour is like a combination of TH Black Soot and Squeezed Lemonade. I didn't even use the big butterfly!!
My week can only get better....and I hope you have a wonderful week. Thank you for looking.

Your card is wonderful! So stunning. I had to make sure I commented on this card...to let you know that you are not alone! Two weeks ago, I did the same exact thing. My foot got tangled in a cord under my computer and when I got up to go warm my cup of coffee, I did a belly flop on my hardwood floor. I did NOT hit my head, but, at first, I thought I broke my knee, it hurt so bad. Lots of black and blue marks on my knees and arms, but I am mending. The doctor just told me to take tylenol. I am still hurting, but not as much. Who would think crafting/and or sitting at a computer could be so dangerous! LOL Hope you are doing much better!

Susie, this is a very impressive card! I. love. it! Every inch of this very detailed card is amazing. Your cards are like looking at miniature diorama's. I am so, so sorry you had all those mishaps. Ooh, I know that hurt. And thankfully no concussion. Great card my friend.

Susie, this is just gorgeous! Love all the shimmer! Your commentary was so amusing...have your ever thought about writing professionally? I think you have a talent for it! So sorry about your injuries - who knew paper crafting was so dangerous!! I think I will start wearing head, elbow and knee protection, just in case...... I've tripped over my cords as well but found a soft place to land----my butt! My garden hose was what really got me, I landed face down on the driveway and was bleeding like a stuck pig, but nothing broken not even the glasses I was wearing!!!

Wow, this is so BEAUTIFUL! Your layering of the different dies is simply stunning! Sorry to hear about your injuries in making it - I have given myself a few injuries over the years but only minor like burns from the heat gun and poking a piercing tool underneath my nail bed - nothing like what you have experienced! Hope you will feel better soon :-)

Scoping out your gallery as a consequence of the Favorites of 2013. Love your work, and got so many giggles out of your write-up. Hope you are totally healed now!
