This is a Teapot Tuesday card for Patty, a dear friend of our High Priestess Teapotter, Sheri (knurse). To let Patty know she is in our thought we were asked to bring flowers, birds, butterflies or a nature scene.
When I read those precious words "nature scene" my mind went at a million miles an hour dreaming up a nature scene of a little person, wearing a floppy hat, with a butterfly net in a garden setting. I found the perfect digi stamp, did all the sizing on the computer, chose the papers AND I did this in record time of 90 minutes.
Next step was turning the printer on......it was not working. Not to worry, DH has prepared a folder for me of how to fix everything that goes wrong when he is away, you know stuff like how to reset the pilot light on the hot water, how to open the roller door of the garage when the power goes out (gosh that is a long story for another day), how to change the ink in the computer. DH did NOT leave instructions on what to do when the printer wouldn't even turn on. Not to worry, time for Plan B.
Plan B was a card I have been thinking about for a while thanks to the inspiring cards of Peggy (jasonw1), the queen of monochromatic creations. Oh my goodness how hard is it not to add colour, I had to have a little lay down after making this. I did add an insy bit of Stickles to the butterflies and a tiny bit on the birds eye (IRL it looks like he has a glass eye - not really the look I was going for).
About the card, this is a stair step (steps are in middle section). After making the step card, I ran it through the cuttlebug using a brick EF. The butterflies are stuck on acetate so they look suspended in the air. I dry embossed the butteflies and added a bit of bling. I added the tree, gate and flourishes.
As there was no fussy cutting this week you would think there were no injuries to report...but you would be wrong. When I tried to fix the printer, I unplugged it and somehow wrapped the cord around my foot, tripped, smashed my head into the edge of the desk and was somewhat dazed for half an hour. Just when you think it can't get worse, I dropped a very large butterfly punch on my foot, I expect the swelling will go down any day now. The bruise is impressive, the colour is like a combination of TH Black Soot and Squeezed Lemonade. I didn't even use the big butterfly!!
My week can only get better....and I hope you have a wonderful week. Thank you for looking.

Susie I echo what Nancy said...this is how I envision the pearly gates! My words could not begin to do justice to this amazing card. You do wear monochromatic very well! So sorry about all of your travails in getting to this point and I hope that there is no permanent brain damage (I value your inspiration too much!!) Hugz, my friend.

Oh my gosh, Susie, I'm glad you are okay - after the fall and the punch dropped on the foot! Good grief - a double header in one day! Your card is absolutely exquisite - it's amazing - as are all of your cards! Watch out for those cords!!

WOW WOW WOW! My first thought was the gate is opening into a magical mythical garden. You have created monocromatic whimsey and all because your printer did not work! This was a card that WANTED to be made! Your bird's eye is just wide open with WONDER and amazement at the beauty of the garden as he is about to join the frolicking butterflies for some fun in your charming scene!(Magical NEEDS Stickles and I imagine IRL your flutterby's are even more lovely) I LOVE LOVE LOVE this all white side road down the stair step card pathway where you take us on such nice journeys every week! What a pleasure it is to come visit your gallery.... BIG fav for me and pinned twice as well. (In my stairstep and all white boards) P.S. Your mishaps with the cord and punch will certainly make the creating of this card memorable and hopefully your owies will be better soon!

This card needs to be placed in a keepsake frame.....so delicate, and your monochromatic theme looks beautiful! You did so well with it, I just wish you the best until your DH comes home! He needs to hurry back before you find something else to get into......Hugs~
