One man's weed is somebody else's wildflower. European goldfinches are meant to love thistle seeds, and indeed in the wild they do. I've seen whole fields of them in Greece, and small flocks of them here. But the only time I left a couple of thistles in the garden, they paid not the slightest attention and all I ended up with was a fine crop of thistles all over the following year. At least Sherry won't have that problem with these, and they have attracted a few pretty birds for her. You know what they say about a house with books - as far as I'm concerned you can say the same about a garden without birds!
A2 base, Memory Box.
IO image stamped on watercolour paper with Versafine Black and coloured with distress inks. I added a touch of Stickles to the birds' wings, the thistle flowers and a few leaves. It's layered onto green Bazzill and then I tied some organza ribbon round it.

What a happy card! It's sure to bring a smile to Sherry's face! My father always says, "If I didn't plant it, it's a weed!" and we always tell him they're not weeds, they're wildflowers - it's all a matter of perspective!

What a lovely garden - I am glad to see it succeeded in attracting the adorable birds.
We are missing our quail this winter - we had several in our back yard last year, but they have not come back this fall. maybe in the spring...

What a delightful garden, but sorry about your thistles not working to attract the goldfinches and giving you nothing but a thistle problem the next year!
Love the brightly colored birds and the polka dotted organza was a nice finishing touch! Sherry will love this card!
