I'm your hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and I've picked four colors for us to work with: Just Jade, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue and Melon Mambo. The dessert option this week is Flowers.
This art journal stuff can get pretty addictive!
I started out by spraying a 6" x 6" sheet of watercolor paper with three shades of Oxide spray: tumbled glass, cracked pistachio, mustard seed, then sprayed the whole thing with water to move the colors around a bit. When it was dry, I stamped the flower image and the greeting onto the page with black archival ink and stamped the flowers again on another piece of watercolor paper.
I broke out my brand-new Karin Pro Markers, and I must say I love them! I colored the stems and leaves on the main page, and then colored the flowers on the separate piece. When the flowers were dry, I fussy cut them out.
I should hasten to say that I didn't cheat on the purple color! I used my glass media mat to scribble some blue and pink from the markers, mixed them together with a water brush, and painted with the resulting purple color.
I added some splashes of white paint to the page, then shaped and glued on all the flowers. Added a few gems and today's date.
