It is so ironic that celery was mentioned as a possibility for making a stamp, as I had done this a few months ago, but set it aside for future use. I don't recall where I saw the idea. After a few attempts, what worked best was to use the complete stalk left whole, cutting it off at a point where you can spread each individual stalk open to create petals, assuming that you want to stamp a flower. Make sure you cut them straight across so that when you stamp with the paint, each stalk hits the paper. It takes a bit of practice to get the right amount of acrylic paint so it isn't just a huge blob and once you put paint on, the celery will start absorbing it and eventually it won't work very well. I had even chosen the correct color for today! Lucky me!
Is there a name for the whole thing of celery, as isn't each piece called a stalk? A bunch? A clump?

I remember doing some sort of science experiment in Jr High with celery (absorption?)..anyway, I digress...your celery stamping turned out FANTASTIC! Brilliant idea and beautiful card Jean!

Around here it's called a bunch of celery, and this is a bunch of terrific! Thanks for explaining about not separating it - that makes so much more sense than using a separate stalk. This is just so cool!
