I LOVE this DP from My Mind's Eye's 'Out & About' collection. The main colors found in the DP are chocolate, olive, pink and a ruby-red/rust, which also happen to match Basic Grey's Infuse line, so I mixed prints from both lines for this card.
This is one of my favorite layouts, and I tend to use it as a starting point for many of the things I create. It looks like you're using a ton of DP, but the pieces really aren't that big. (A great way to use up scraps!) I like to make big cards (most of the things I make are at least 6x6) which is great because I like to add lots of 'stuff'!!
Personally, I find Groovy Guava a 'strong' color to work with, probably because orange is one of my least favorite colors. For the main panel, I stamped the flower in white craft ink onto Guava CS, then embossed it with a mixture of clear EP and Dazzling Diamonds. The edges of each layer of the flower were then sponged with Cocoa and Chocolate Chip. These steps seemed to really soften the Guava color, and I like the look a lot better now.
I added a ribbon blossom, using scraps from my ribbon scrap jar first, then adding pieces of ribbon snipped from actual rolls. I never throw any ribbon in the trash, so starting with the scrap jar is a great way to make sure nothing is wasted. (Saving more $$ for stamps! :-) )
**Several people have left posts asking for directions for making my ribbon blossoms. I put together a tutorial, which can be found on my blog, if you're interested.
