This is the biggest bird stamp that I own. If I had a bigger bird, I would have used it, or I should have made the card note-card size to make the proportions better. I think the bird is too small for this card.
I was inspired by the layout of the artwork, with a rectangular area to the left, and birds on the lower right. The colors also inspired me.
I made the birch bark by tapping and rubbing the edge of a brown ink spot on paper, then I sponged it with caramel ink. It looked too bland and I wanted more blue in the card, so I stamped French Script over it with Brocade Blue, turning it into a Paper Birch now.
Bird was colored with ink and a blender pen. He was stamped twice, both on white paper for coloring and on the card base. His colored body was cut out and placed over the body on the card base so that he would have feet to stand on.
Square brads were used, to represent the square and rectangular shapes of the inspiration piece.
