This card is for the weekly challenges I do with a few fellow SCSers....this week the challenge was to use this paint chip (the whole chip!) and to use a peice of chipboard that was sent along with it in anyform. (Thanks Dawn!)
The beautiful leaves are by Artful Inkables and can be found at www.starvingartistamps.com. They are stamped on the paint chip in choc chip and olive. I stamped them again on white cs adn colored them with copics and then applied a thick layer of UTEE...so they have a real leaf like appearance.
The sentiment is from Close as a memory and is stamped in choc chip and olive. I matted the paint chip several times and added the ribbon, hemp and brads.
This paint chip gave me fits---this was plan f. Unfortunately, after I figured out how to use it....I realized I had forgotten to use the chipboard. So, I figured out that I could use the chipboard to add some dimension to the sentiment and leaves. heehee! Had to figure out something because I did not want to end up at plan Z!!!
It is to make a card for parents who have lost a baby. After I completed the card, I showed my dh who said "Did you use the oak leaf on purpose?"
I, of course said, "I just like it"
He replied..."the oak leaf is kind of like a symbol in the hospital...esp on the maternity floor...the put an oak leaf on the door to alert any non essential staff that there has been a death in the room"
A sad coincidence.
Thanks for looking!

A very elegant sympathy card, Carolyn! I love the different shades of green, and the black outline paper and brad - the black really pops the card. Gorgeous!

hmmmm seems you and Tosh were kind of on the same wave length with regard to the shape of your card! I really like this and you know ...... I am gonna have to see if we have any of these massive paintchips but I don't think so or would have had already! these make fantastic cards. How strange that you picked the oak leave for this card .... didn't know that either so good info to know!

Cammie...what a wonderful card you created for a wonderful reason. I remember this thread from sometime back. I think Ann is such an amazing person...doing so much for others. I love what you did with your paint chip...how funny you forgot the cardboard thingy! Hee! An amazing coincidence too! Thanks for sharing that link!
