 | | Well, if I was at home, this would be a totally different card. I have used many images from the inspiration site and its Pinterest site to mash this together as I went along.
I have many stamps (too many) at home that I would have gravitated to but, I had to go with what I have with me.
This medallion stamp happened to be in the container of Plain Jane Verve stamps that made the cut to travel with me on this trip. I stamped it repeatedly to make a pattern that resembled tiles. I then scored every 1/2" to create a faux tile look. (Which made me realize that my lining up the pattern needed a bit more care.) Sponged on some distress inks to give it a bit of colour.
If at home, I would have then covered it with Versamark and clear embossing powder to give it some shine. I did add a wee spot of stickles in the centre of the 'stars'. Triple die-cut a birthday sentiment. Layered the tiled image so it had a skinny white border and glued it to a metallic black piece from my stash of odd pieces that I dragged along. The inside has the medallion image stamped in blue in opposite corners with sponging to match the front and a birthday greeting stamped in blue.
I've been asked a few times 'just how much stuff I brought with me on holidays". Well, I filled two good-sized grocery bags (about 14" x 8" and 18" high). They were very strategically packed with mini inks, sentiment stamps, my stamp positioner, a rotary trimmer, mini-Scor-Pal, a Sidekick, one small box of dies that will fit in a Sidekick, some pre-embossed card fronts, random die-cut pieces/cardstock scraps and some necessities like glue, dimensionals, a blending tool, etc. I also managed to squeeze in two containers of 'half-finished' cards that need gluing together, sentiments, etc. for my Ronald McDonald House project. My hubby was impressed with how 'compact' I had packed compared to what I used to haul south with us when we were doing the "snowbird thing". Having limited supplies has forced me to think differently when creating - a good thing indeed! |
