FS998 Spring Rain

Another card for today's gallery, based on this card by FS ggurreri:
free spirit by ggurreri at Splitcoaststampers
I recently discovered that my favorite thrift shop has been getting unused (!) sets of stamps and dies, many of them from Stampin' Up. I got this old set, but only the 2nd of the two parts, the first of which contained the stamp in my inspiration. (I keep checking to see if the other shows up!)

I stamped the image on glossy card stock which gives a really clean image. I used two hacks:
1) if a marker or pencil color is too bright for your purposes (the umbrella here), add grey to tone it down.
2) if you don't have the right color gems, color pearl embellishments with marker.

A delightful creation, and now you have me wanting to check my local thrift! Loving your stripes and dots.

That card was my second choice for casing so we were thinking alike. Love that you switched image in the set but kept some of her pretty colors. Great coloring and paper choices, Faith. This is a lovely case/card. Hugz

Love your colours - and that wonky stitched die really compliments the image. Great tip on toning colours down with grey - I shall have to try to remember that!

Such a charming case of the original, with the glossy cardstock giving the image such crisp definition. The softened umbrella tones work beautifully with the sage palette, and the mix of stripes and dots adds just the right amount of movement. The stitched frame pulls everything together in a really polished way.
