 | | The oddest thing happened today. I looked at Polly's MIX, told her how much I love Carl Larsson's work, always have. His paintings are always about family life and if you look at a lot of them, you'll see that there is usually a person in the painting who is looking straight at you.
So I'm thinking and thinking what to do. In the meantime, I have some errands to run, drop off a bag at Goodwill, went inside to look around and browse a bit. I don't like this Goodwill displays their art, as they are like books in a bookcase and you have to pull out each one to see what it is. The first one I pull out is this Carl Larsson print. Yes, really! So I brought it home! It's called 'Breakfast Under the Birch.'
It was badly framed and not a very good print because the company who printed it misspelled his name. I took it out of the frame and prepared a background for it with red and yellow inks and slate ink through a birch stencil. I stamped three sentiments, heat embossed in clear. I used a gold marker to edge the print and add some detail to the black photo corners, which I punched using an old Stampin' Up punch.
One of the things I love the most is that he put his initials on the birch tree with the year he painted it...1895.
What am I going to do with this? No idea. But I thought it was meant to be. Thanks, Polly. I have several Carl Larsson art books. His art is so joyous, calming, personal, and content to be at home. |
