 | | This is for my Dad's birthday. We have the same birthday and I am longing to be with him this year. I found a vintage-looking map online, printed it twice, and cut out Texas and Georgia on one of them. The other map was trimmed to fit a 5 x 7 size, then aged with Gray Granite around the edges. I also aged around the edges of the cut out states.
I don't even remember buying this car stamp and it is marked HL--so not sure what that means. Dad says it looks like, an old Buick. I fashioned the sentiment to look like an old gas station sign.
My dad was school principal. During the summer, he set up a large map bulletin board and added colorful map tacks to it, adjusting and readjusting until he got the bus routes mapped just right. My artist heart loved those map tacks, but we were never allowed to touch them. I only had enamel dots in black, but they are a nod to those old map tacks.
