For the "used" or old part of my card, I cut the strip going down the side of last years planner and added my patch of color with a leaf I stamped, colored and fussy cut. popped up on dimensionals. stamped the sentiment on the side.

That colourful leaf looks super on top of your salvaged strip. I always think vertical sentiments look great, but I only have one or two.
