Plenty of new stuff to play with here, just not enough time. I took the opportunity to make a birthday card for my sister for next week. New was the Sewing Edge (which she picked up for me from her local art shop, I was delighted to find it in stock there. They have a lot of old discontinued stuff), the stencil and the Spellbinders leaves, which were part of my Moddy Christmas purchase from Amazon - so thank you to everyone who supports ALL the site volunteers by shopping using the link on the home page.
I took a large Brusho background from my box, and used the Studio Light Berries stencil to create a monoprint. I stamped some long lines of blanket stitch with a spectrum pad along the remainder of the card just to add a little interest.
The edge was cut from a cereal pack and painted with gesso, then I used a silver pen on the scissors and bobbin, acrylic paint on the buttons and distress inks on the spool, after which I wrapped some buttonhole twist around it. I added a strip of lace down the edge of the stencil-printed part, it's pretty much the same colour as my leaves. The green leaves are the rest of the photo paper I inked up for my dragon yesterday, and the autumnal colours must have been done either for leaves or a crab - both alcohol inks on glossy photo paper. I also cut the dress from from a cereal box, sponged the top and bottom with distress inks. The body is covered with some burgundy suede - it looks dark in the photo, but it's actually not far off the colour of my mother's dress form. I added some coarse cheesecloth as a foundation for the skirt and then layered up the autumn and spring leaves, finishing with a strip of gold ribbon to neaten the top. I added a little flower as a corsage, and a die-cut sentiment which changed colour three times as I tried to get something that would show. The final iteration was embossing with Red Cinnabar and adding a shadow.

I love when I can make a card for someone using items they sent me. Your sister is going to love this wonderful card. The leaves on your dress form are perfect!
