Diane is our Color Challenge Hostess this week and gave us these colors to work with: Gorgeous Grape, Tahitian Tide, and Parakeet Party with a dessert option of adding Sparkle.
With color names such as those, my mind went immediately to a tropical theme. I die cut the hibiscus flowers in a light blue that is pretty close to Tahitian Tide with Gorgeous Grape for the pistils. Mounted them on navy cardstock (considered a neutral, surprisingly) and ran through a tropical leaf EF. I wanted to do some kind of tropical bird, but don't own any stamps or dies, so found a drawing online, which I printed and deconstructed, using the pieces as templates from which to trace and cut the body, head, beak and feathers. Drew in his eye and did a little outlining with markers. Popped the bird and sentiment up on foam mounts. Added some WOS to the flower petals, but it never seems to show up in photos. Where will these colors take you?

Great idea of going with the tropical theme. Your bird is outstanding and very inspiring. You were really thinking outside the box on creating him! Lovely design! TFS

HaHa, when I saw the title for this week's color challenge I immediately thought tropical parrot too. And you did a stunning job of making that thought come alive. And, so clever to create you own bird that way. I'm so impressed. I've tucked that idea away for my future use. Awesome card, Faith.
