2022BLITZ2 Snowy Tree
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: papercrafter40

I used an old piece of patterned paper from The Paper Studio for my tree. I folded it as per the tutorial. Trying to figure out how to space 3 even cuts down the tree took a bit of measuring & math. No, I'm not necessarily much of a one for eyeballing! LOL As the tree is 6" high, the horizontal cuts came out to 1-1/2" apart.

I folded each of the "branches," which was a bit difficult due to the thickness of the paper. But I prevailed!

Unfortunately, after all the folding, I ended up with a small hole at the top where the paper kind of frayed so the white core showed. I tried making a 3D tree topper by punching 4 stars from gold glitter paper & gluing them together. But that was an epic fail in the end. Then I happened to look up on top of an ink pad holder on the wall above my desk, & saw a bottle of white puff fabric paint I have had for a long time. It came to me - snow! So I added the paint to the top of the tree & along the upper fold of each branch. I let that dry for a few hours as per the paint instructions, then steamed it carefully with an iron to puff it. It didn't puff as much as liquid applique would have, but it is much whiter than that product, so I'm happy. After I photographed it, I glued it to a plate with cotton balls around it for "snow" on the ground. (If I'd had it on the plate before photographing, it wouldn't have fit my photography setup!) It will be a centerpiece for an upcoming Christmas party.
