2022BLITZ1 Peace Tree
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: papercrafter40

I added StickIt adhesive to both sides of a panel of green cardstock, then die cut my tree from that. I peeled off the release paper from the front & back, & stuck it lightly to a piece of scrap paper, just to hold it in place. I then adhered my gilding flakes to the front. After I had a good mix of those, I brushed a pigment powder over the rest of the exposed adhesive. Then I burnished everything into the adhesive. My initial plan with putting StickIt on both sides was to hold the die cut down while adding my flakes & powder. Then I would just be able to adhere the tree to my panel without the mess of glue. Well, the adhesive on the back kind of got compromised by the powder & flakes "leaking" under the die cut, which pretty well neutralized it. So I ended up having to use liquid glue anyway. Oh, well - lesson learned!

My kraft panel seemed a little plain, so I took the background stamp from the My Monthly Hero October 2022 kit & stamped it a couple of times with Yeti pigment ink. Then I set that aside to dry.

I spelled out "PEACE" with my alpha stamps, & stamped that on a strip of white cardstock with Bundled Sage Distress Oxide ink. I wanted to do embossed resist, so I sprinkled clear embossing powder over the ink. For some reason, it didn't stick! So I put my strip back in my MISTI, & stamped over the greeting with Versamark ink. This time the powder stuck, & I was able to finish the heat embossing. I inked over the strip with brown, & cut it into a smaller label. I added a bit of brown ink to the edges to finish it off.

I glued my tree to my kraft panel, & adhered the greeting strip as a "trunk." I had a leftover panel that I'd tried doing faux letterpress on, that hadn't worked out. So I trimmed that down slightly & used it to mat my kraft panel. I added that to a green mat I'd adhered to my white card base, & that finished off this card.
